Looking at the Spring 2024 Jordan Retro Preview today on SNKRS, these are the pairs I’d be up to cop.

Metallic 1 Burgundy: Nice to see the return of the Metallic series. We really need to complete that set from 1985. Retail is $200.

Metallic 1 Navy Low: It’s a clean colorway. They listed it as $130 but changed it up to $160. Wild price for a low. Should be $130.

Olive 5: The tongues on the AJ 5 still need work. Not a fan of the east coast puffy jacket look. However, this is a colorway I missed in 2006. They were $145 then, now they’re $210.

Powder Blue 9: they said it will be as close to the OG colorway as possible. I own the OG so I’m looking forward to see “how close.” Retail is $210.

Bred 4 Reimagined: How do we feel about leather? I’m curious about this one. I hope it doesn’t squeak because that leather on leather contact will be a test. Looks nice though. Retail is $215.

Last week, an independent shop in Denver, CO recently released the Nike Kobe 6 Reverse. In doing so, they made an attempt to curb resell culture by destroying the original boxes and replaced them with a tote bag with the likeness of . Here’s what one customer shared with me. The shop did include the side of the destroyed box with the size label on it as well as the tote bag and shoes. They still sold them at retail ($190) and all sales were final with no returns or exchanges. Should shops be allowed to do this to product? Is it within the parameters of Nike’s Code of Conduct and launch policies? Thoughts on this?

In my opinion, destroying product to stamp a statement on resell culture does nothing to eliminate resell.

Five years ago, I was fortunate to receive a two pair care package from Jordan Brand. It was promoted as . One in my size 10 and the other in a size 11.5. I immediately knew who I wanted to gift the other to and it was my kids karate instructor, Sensei Rodney Hu.

Having known him for just a few months then, you could feel the immediate warmth and energy he radiated with his students. I’ve never been around an instructor who was so passionate about his craft and their ability to share that with others.

As most of you know, the Air Jordan 11 Concord was my very first pair of Air Jordans way back in 1995. Little did I know, it happened to be Sensei Rodney’s very first pair of Air Jordans EVER so it was a come full circle moment for me and one of the best stories of my collecting career. He was filled with joy that night and the very thought of acknowledgment warmed our hearts.

Unfortunately, Sensei Rodney lost his life a couple years later in 2020 due to a senseless act of rage from an individual who will spend the rest of his life behind bars. The memory of Sensei Rodney lives on forever. RIP.

When it comes to retro leather quality, do we still hold the 2011 Banned and 2015 Shattered Backboard Air Jordan 1s in high regard or has there been something better in recent memory?

Doing deals in person is either hit or miss. I had sold my beat & yellowed pair of Black Cement 3s some time ago and I was itching to get another pair even though I had a pair on ice. I found a gently used pair on OfferUp and the guy wanted $250. I’m always hopeful for deals in person to be worth the shot so I offered him $200. We settled on $220 and the deal was done within 30 mins time.

I thought it was a quick and fair transaction. I never like dealing with bu****it when it comes to meetups but I’m glad this one was successful. Now I can rock these classics once again 👊

FYI, please disinfect used pairs if you go this route.

Anyone out there have any stories to share?

Just reminiscing. This time, 28 years ago, when I saved my lunch money and money I made off chores to afford my very first pair of Air Jordans. Back when the game was pure.
