Congratulations to the 2x NBA Champion and future Hall of Famer, Pau Gasol tonight as the Lakers raise his #16 to the rafters. This was a night Kobe Bryant looked forward to 😢. RIP to The Mamba 🐍

One of the more impactful videos you will watch to kick off the start of the new year! @dunksrnice and I collaborated on a near complete comparative review of the Air Jordan 2. The video is now LIVE on his YouTube channel. Peep it. Like it. Share it. Follow ✌️ 🎥: YouTube.com/dunksrnice 🎥: YouTube.com/mjo23dan

Stephen Hicks of @abc30_actionnews in Fresno, CA tells the story of how MJ frequently played summer exhibition games in the Central Valley from 1987-1998. See the post of my ticket stub from 1998 on the previous post!

A very short clip of MJ rocking the banned Nike Air Ship against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. I want to see this game in its entirety! The NBA should release an archive of seasons and games on their network. If it was a subscription based service, I’m in! Who doesn’t want to relive some of these classics? YouTube and short game clips like this only go so far and only tell a small part of the story! Preseason - October 18, 1984. 🎥: #NBA75 #RetroAirShip

Starting today, eBay is authenticating cards. Raw cards valued at $750 or more will go through inspection and it seems like CGC and CSG will be the third party companies reviewing them. This is gonna be pretty interesting. Following the success of the sneaker authentication model, any card collector thoughts on this?

Back in 2010, I was invited as staff to attend the release of the Sole Collector x CMFT 11 release at the brand new Nike Santa Monica. Little did we know, our special guest was none other than legendary sneaker designer, Tinker Hatfield. With my trusty Apple iPhone 4 in hand (mind you no portable chargers were made back then) I was able to capture a Q&A from the crowd in attendance as one individual asked what the I.E. stood for in the Jordan 11 I.E. from 1996. Well, not even the legend himself knew so why should we 🤣. It gets brought up every now and then but people will name all kinds of stuff like “international exclusive” (this shoe was never exclusive internationally) as explicit it may seem. I purchased the Cobalts which had I.E. on the label back in the summer of 1996 in Chicago. Some will also say it was a mistake from the brand to add it. We’ve seen other instances where other items get mislabeled. For example the 2000 AJ 11 Space Jams where same were labeled as Jordna. Some even say the I (i) isn’t an I but a lower case L meaning “limited edition.” In my honest opinion, I want to say that the I.E. stands for “in elephant” print as it’s the first time elephant print had returned to an Air Jordan since the Air Jordan 3. The brand has made the original AJ 11 lows from the 90s synonymous with the I.E. moniker as so to distinguish itself apart from the early 2000s AJ 11 lows. Ah well, I’m sure a Tinker at the time was just playing it safe 🤣. I have a 3 part video of this event on YouTube. You can search for “Sole Collector x Nike Santa Monica.”

About a year ago, I picked up a pair of OG Air Jordan 9s to add to my collection. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my size (9.5) but as a collector collecting OGs, you don’t have very many choices and opportunities to pick up originals even remotely close to your shoe size is slim pickings. I ended up pulling the trigger. This shoe started my journey of completing the original AJ 9 set and I was able do so just this past year. @djnhan reached out with an opportunity to purchase his OG AJ 9 in my true size 10 and I felt better knowing the set was now complete in my size range. I went back to the collection and as I picked out the sz 9.5 as an attempt to sell, I looked back on a memory from my childhood. So I was born in Chicago and lived there for the first 10 years of my life. My family and I left in 1990 and moved to California. I always missed my Chitown family so I made multiple efforts to visit in 1996, 2003 and one other time in 2008. The first time back in 1996 was probably my most memorable one because I stayed for practically the summer and spent so many wonderful moments with my cousins. I specifically remember times my cousin Randy rocking the AJ 9 and being so proud of them while cheering for the Chicago Bulls (our favorite hometown team). Anyways, fast forward to present day. It’s a full circle moment and I wanted to gift my cousin a pair of his first Air Jordans. Originals like how he had back in the day. I hit up his brother and asked what size he was and he said Randy was a sz 9.5. Perfect! I enlisted the help of his wife Cecilia and asked if she could record his reaction. I initially wasn’t going to post this but I think it’s an inspiring and happy moment that should be shared as I have shared videos like this before when I gifted Sensei Rodney (RIP) his first pair of Air Jordans. Randy and Cecilia I hope this is okay and if not, oh well 😆. Just loved the come full circle moment and just something I wanted to do. This is what the spirit of co

Shouts to @nightwing2303 of @weartesters for the mention. He always has my respect ✊️. He recently dropped the newest video of the retro Seattle X. Go check that out! I’m anticipating that release as well. As for the original set of the AJ X, I do own the entire collection. As for the direction of the Jumpman, back then the direction was determined by the country of manufacture so if it was a Taiwan pair, the Jumpman on back faced left. If it was a China pair, the Jumpman faced outward and if it was a Korea pair, it faced each other. Pretty cool easter egg. I have a post up somewhere on here or maybe it’s on YouTube.

So the Air Jordan 11 Low I.E. has always been a ? in sneaker history. It’s re-releasing this Saturday in the Space Jam themed colorway. Here is Tinker Hatfield, the original designer of the shoe, at Nike Santa Monica in 2010. What a surprise and guests had no clue he was in attendance. A question from the crowd came about on what the I.E. stood for? Tinker’s response? 😆 There’s a 3 part video I recorded of the event all on my iPhone 4. Wow! I don’t think anyone else has this on video but me. I’ll throw the link in my bio if you guys are interested in watching. This was WAY before the media got involved with covering sneakers like they do now. I guess I’m the OG? 🥳

In November 2005, casting calls by @wiedenkennedy began for Jordan Brand’s AJ XX1 commercial titled “Second Generation.” The tagline for the spot was “Let Your Game Speak” and it aired in February 2006. I uploaded the side by side comparison between both productions and the inspiration this next generation of athletes emulated - The Greatest. It’s no denying that these stories are what fuel great breading...I mean branding. 🥴
