The use of AI in the exhibition ‘Fragments of a Panorama’ In the panoramic video projection, ‘A Road in India (2079)’, artists Murthovic and Thiruda portray a future where global cultures face extinction through a fusion of archival footage of colonial India and AI-generated imagery. This technique reverses "worlding," a concept by post-colonial writer Gayatri Chakrabarty Spivak, which describes how colonisers reshape land into a controlled, oppressive space, altering how people view their own land. In our exhibition booklet, you can find some of the prompts that have been fed into the AI generator by the artists to create images of these worlds. Acquire your copy at the gallery or view it on our website! 🗓 Open Tuesday - Sunday 1 - 6pm until 13 Oct 2024 📍arebyte Gallery, 7 Botanic Square, E14 0LG 🎟️ Free, no booking required https://www.arebyte.com/fragments-of-a-panorama Curated by Kinnari Saraiya #indofuturism #GenerativeAI #London #freeevent #immersiveart #digitalart #newmediaart

The vocabulary of Indian classical dance in ‘Fragments of a Panorama’ Come to the opening party of our upcoming immersive exhibition by artists Murthovic and Thiruda on Thursday evening, 11th July 2024, to learn more about symbolic hand gestures known as Mudras. The artists explore cultural heritage, digital technology, and speculative futures by threading mudras into a selection of their works using VR, as well as motion capture of a dancer that has been re-edited and generated by AI. Playing a crucial role in several classical Indian dances, such as Bharatanatyam and Kathak, Mudras communicate complex narratives, express emotions, and embody symbolic and spiritual significance. In addition to bringing beauty and gracefulness to the dance, these gestures are essential for storytelling. With 51 core mudras—28 for one hand (Asamyuta Hasta) and 23 for both hands (Samyuta Hasta)—each serving as its own vocabulary, dancers can express intricate stories and emotions. 🗓 Opening Party Thu 11th July 2024, 6.30pm 📍arebyte Gallery, 7 Botanic Square, E14 0LG 🎟️ Free, book your ticket here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/fragments-of-a-panorama-by-murthovic-and-thiruda-opening-party-tickets-925865026217 #indofuturism #GenerativeAI #London #freeevent #ClassicalDance #immersiveart #digitalart #newmediaart
