When I found out I was going to be on Twin Cities Live, I knew I wanted to create a cookie set that spoke to my Hawaiian heritage. What started as a simple set became a conceptual work of edible art. I started my business knowing I wanted a completely consumable product, which is why I will always use minimal, compostable, and recyclable packaging for my cookies. Growing up, I was taught what it was like to live on the Hawaiian Islands with limited resources and where a ripple can create a wave. I hope that in some small way I can bring awareness about the threats to my culture. From rapid ʻōhiʻa death threatening to destroy ʻōhiʻa lehua trees to mosquitoes spreading avian malaria to native Hawaiian honeycreepers that feed on those rapidly dying trees. I hope it helps you see that individual actions make a lasting impact on the natural world around you. In my business, a cookie is rarely just a cookie.
