Empowered. It’s a trendy word, and to be honest, one I sometimes toss around lightly. Empowered. In rare but precious occasions it becomes is more then a trendy word and is a unicorn of a feeling. Empowered. A word that when I walk though the doors at @honeybook HQ every second Tuesday of the month I can’t possibly relate to, I can’t physically find in myself. Empowered. It’s a word thats meaning and power becomes unbounded for me when I step in front of these people month after month. .

I joked with a friend last night about telling your inner voice that’s full of fears to just take a freakin seat at the back already. She reminded me that the little voice that pops up from time to time with all those fears, doubts and expectations isn’t so bad, and really just trying to look out for you. We giggled saying, “Hey inner me, I know you just want the best for me, but I GOT THIS! I’m already killin’ it without your help!”. .

That small voice creeps up time to time. I battle with it every month before our TT meetings. I’m not smart enough, I don’t have enough to offer, I’m not well spoken enough, I didn’t bring enough, I didn’t prepare enough. Then something amazing happens. I step in front of this astounding group of individuals to speak and I’m reminded that they walked though those doors with the exact same fears as me. I don’t need to have it all figured out to be “enough”, I just need to be small part. I stand up there to encourage others to come as you are and just be a small part. Don’t worry about being enough because together as a community we are a whole. Together as a community we can empower. A rising tide lifts all boats, and all you need to do is make one small wave.
