Videos by David Howley. New album “for Venus” out 4/21
Some honesty.
The past few years have been some of the hardest I’ve been through yet personally. A death of what I knew to be my life.
In the ashes I felt I’d lost any confidence I had, who am I and why would anyone care?
I’m not the first or last to go through a time like this but I’d like to be open about what it has been to me.
The instruction book for life is short and abstract, the included tools non existent and, in my case, it has a few missing parts and a few extra ones too. I’m lucky to have a great family and an amazing set of friends, (one of which told me once “who we are is stored in the people who love us”), but the storm is still mine to chase.
So as I finish this new album I’m reflecting on these last few years and what I’ve learned.
1. People are mostly kind, the ones that aren’t likely need a little kindness themselves.
2. Trust. Both others and yourself. No one can do it for you but they might be able to help.
3. Consistency over quantity.
4. Tell the story you want to tell, it’s more interesting than the one you think you should tell.
5. Tell your loved ones when you’re excited about something. That way if it doesn’t turn out they know to support you.
6. You’re not perfect and you’re not meant to be. No straight lines in nature.
7. Spend slow time with the people you love. Watch the sunset, go for a walk, pluck the weeds, dip your toes. Life is short and we don’t know how long we get.
I’d like to say that’s it, I’m back and ready but that’s not how it works. I’m excited about the next chapter. This new album fills my soul and I’m excited to play live later this year. I’m committed to the journey and I appreciate you all for the support.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. 💙
First single coming in October.
It’s called “Shadow”.

Such a joy to sing live with Woven Kin.
April tour dates are on sale and tickets are going fast! Thank you for the support! 💙
January 20th I’ll be releasing a new song called “surrender”. It’s the second release off a new album I’ve been making for over 2 years now. I’ve struggled a lot over the past while, more than any other time in my life actually and I feel I’m getting to know what it is to surrender into life and give way to the process. Have you felt that in your life? Would you enjoy a live this week to talk about music and things?
Excited to be heading on my first solo tour next month opening for @ajeetmusic . 💙 I feel lucky and honoured to have the lovely and very talented @seanosullivan1987 playing keys with me. It’s fair to say our rehearsals were pretty dreamy. 🔥
It's Gonna be May (*NSYNC Cover Ft. Scott Mulvahill)
Had a lot of fun making this with the lads!
Thanks to our Special guest Scott Mulvahill, be sure to check out his music!
What should be the next one?
I really had a hard time getting on board with today. I’m glad of friends, family and music in times like this. Here’s a start of a song that fell out this afternoon. Hang in there everyone 💙
When this song came to be first I had a much darker view of the world. Even in the times we’re living in now I can see a brighter light for the future. Maybe it’s overly optimistic, but I’m willing to err on the side of love. The amount of care you all are sharing with each other, even from a far warms my heart. 💙 Hang in there everyone Happy Saturday.
