It feels like health gurus keep taking eating behaviors to a new level of restrictiveness and every time I think, āthis canāt go much farther,ā it does.
And while it fuels my fire to do this work, I am so grateful that I am not in that frame-of-mind anymore.
Tweaking food was my hobby. It was all I thought about, read about and cared about. It has been so liberating to reclaim that time and energy and have a sense of peace in my life that I thought would only be possible by finding the one nutrient to solve my lifeās problems.
Food can add to our lives, but so often itās being used as a punitive measure and being justified under the guise of health.
This is not health. This is diet culture.

Iām a little late, but in June we had the 10 year anniversary of Eat The Rules and its 300th episode š¤Æ.
ā
There is absolutely no way that I would still be here if it were not for your support. I am eternally grateful for every one of you - whether itās from listening to one episode or working with me in one of my programs.
ā
THANK YOU a million times over.
ā
Iāve been doing a lot of reflection on whatās changed over the last 10 years. When I first started the podcast in 2014, Kim K had broken the internet with her champagne bottle photoshoot and now Kim K breaks her ribs to fit into tiny dresses.š„“
ā
I jokeā¦ but, in all honesty, while many things have not changed, itās helped me to see the patterns that unfold in our culture.
ā
Itās helped me to see that diet culture doesnāt change, rather it just keeps putting on a different outfit. Itās helped me to see that body positivity didnāt move the needle and what we truly need is body liberation.
ā
š¤š»Itās reinforced how this work is more important than ever and why you are so courageous for being a part of it.
ā
For episode 300 of the podcast, Iām sharing 5 lessons Iāve learned about body image over the past 10 years. Itās part cultural critique, part rant and part love fest. And there is some optimism about the future.
ā
ā”ļøIf youāve been a listener of the podcast, Iād love to know what you enjoy about it... tell me in the comments.
If you are against body positivity, it means you are against respecting people because of the size of their body, the color of their skin, their age, their abilities or health status and that is fu**ed up.
Classic episode! Rachel Cole is my co-host this week as we talk about our experiences with pregnancy, the impact of weight stigma on pregnant and postpartum bodies and more.

Learn to take clients from āintellectually getting" the body positivity movement to (actually) feeling more neutral in their bodies.
Do you feel like you āintellectually getā the idea of body acceptance, but struggle to internalize it? ļæ½ļæ½
š¤Thatās my cue to enter.
You can read the books, listen to the podcasts and follow all the social media accounts, but if youāre not taking action to intentionally change the way you feel about yourself, then you may be stuck in that āintellectually getting itā phase.
In You, On Fire, we go beyond the intellectual stuff to go deep into:
š„Why you feel the way you do about your body (because this goes way beyond the body),
š„How you can authentically change the way you speak to yourself because we all know telling yourself that āyouāre beautifulā doesnāt work,
š„How to divest your sense of self-worth from your appearance so you no longer let the mirror dictate how you feel about yourself,
š„What brings you fulfillment, purpose and pleasure, because we know that doesnāt come from shrinking yourself.
ļæ½ā¦So you can feel more confident and do, say and wear what you want.
All with personalized coaching from me in a supportive group environment.

āFemale hunger is not simply about food. Itās about power, and liberation and wholeness. When we refuse to be ashamed of our appetites we send the message that we are whole beings with needs that deserve to be fulfilled. We let the world know loud and clear that we will not spend our lives starving and shrinking instead of flourishing and living.ā ~Megan Jayne Crabbe, Body Positive Power
