Monday Movement Break

No equipment needed: bodyweight squats, bear crawl, reverse lunges, slow mountain climbers

I like to do about 10 minutes of tissue care before I teach a class. My morning ritual also includes drinking tea and listening to a meditation while I practice tissue care. My evening tissue care before my class typically includes listening to Taylor Swift. Clean is my current favorite song. Am I a Swiftie? Maybe?

Core strength and stability work: loaded marches and bird dog

We practice movements. Once we are stable in the movements with good form then we add load. This is self care and honoring our bodies.

If you are wanting to invest in your health and start fitness training, I encourage you to start now rather than waiting for the new year. Right now is a wonderful time of the year to begin a regular practice of self care by establishing a fitness routine. Then you are already in a habit of carving out time for yourself before the holidays arrive. You are worthy of investing in yourself 💫

Here are some of the lower body and core exercises we will be doing the month of November. Building strength so we can stay strong and capable, and maintain our independence as we age.

I am creating choreography on this rainy day for BLAZE. I will teach this during cool-down and break down the moves over a few weeks so it’s not overwhelming. We have fun on Wednesdays and we’d love you to join us!

Research shows that a progressive strength training program along with adequate protein intake can help slow down muscle loss and in some cases reverse it. We need muscle and strength, especially as we age. We are worthy of caring for ourselves in this way.
