FIND PEACE IN NATURE
Not only does spending time in nature provide a much-needed break from the fast-paced world we live in, but it also offers numerous physical and mental health benefits. The fresh air, natural sunlight, and peaceful surroundings can do wonders for our overall well-being. Studies have shown that being in nature can reduce stress levels, improve mood, boost creativity and focus, and even lower blood pressure.
But why exactly does nature have such a profound effect on us? One reason could be our innate connection to the natural world. After all, humans evolved to live in harmony with nature for thousands of years before modern society came along. Being surrounded by greenery and natural elements can evoke a sense of nostalgia and comfort, reminding us of simpler times.

RECONNECT WITH YOURSELF
The world is loud and noisy. Everything moves so fast that it can feel suffocating. We are hustling so hard every day- we start losing ourselves. We start losing our identity. We start losing our soul.
Sometimes, what we all need is to take a step back for once and find moments of peace and quiet.
These moments allow us to reconnect with ourselves and recharge our mind.
One way to find this inner peace is through mindfulness practices. Mindfulness involves paying attention to the present moment without judgment. By focusing on our breath or our senses, we can bring ourselves into the present moment and let go of any distractions or worries.
Join us for our Women's Silent Retreat at Springbrook, a sanctuary where you can disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with your inner peace.
Event Details:
Date: June 21-23
Location: Springbrook (Gold Coast Hinterland)
Price: $690 for your own private room (2 nights), all meals and classes.

Einstein was onto something when he said 'Creativity is intelligence having fun.'
Creativity and being creative is an important life skill. In the current discussions around wellness - we know of the importance and benefit of moving our bodies and nourishing ourselves. Creativity is now being recommended as an important factor in improving our wellness. Being creative is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety whilst also improving our self-awareness and self-expression.
Creativity is something we can all do. Recall an activity you enjoyed as a child - perhaps making something, painting or drawing or writing. These are just some examples.
What is something creative you enjoy doing?

If you looked at your calendar right now, what would you find? Would it be full of appointments and things to do? Is there time and space in your calendar for you?
Book in for some time to nurture yourself and to engage and indulge in activities that you enjoy. So many of us spend a lot of our time doing things for others that we often forget ourselves. We forget to take care of ourselves.
Our Silent Retreats are amazing experiences to help you reconnect with yourself and be silent and retreat within. The retreat it not just a physical retreat away from your everyday life, but also an inner retreat to yourself and who you are.
Make some space in your calendar in amongst all the to-dos and obligations for yourself and your well-being.

A hot drink and a good book, a quiet spot.
I always seem to have a towering "to read" pile of books. Our Silent Retreats are the perfect opportunity to catch up on some reading.
Some of the benefits of reading include:
📚️ reduces stress
📚️ helps you prepare to sleep
📚️ improves your vocabulary and comprehension skills
📚️ may help with reducing cognitive decline
📚️ may even help you live longer!

Thinking about what to do for the weekend. How about taking a leisurely and scenic drive.
How lucky are we - just a 45min drive away from the coast are world famous National Parks with ancient rainforests, waterfalls and hikes.
One of my faves is Springbrook National Park with a multitude of hikes and waterfalls and quaint little villages (and it's one of our retreat venues)
Notice the slower pace, the change in the air, the beauty of nature that surrounds you. We talk about living in concrete jungles, how about visiting a natural forest instead.

Calm Tip: Soak in the sun 🌞
One of the things I love about this time of year is that I can actually stand in the sun with upturned face, to safely absorb a few minutes of beautiful rays.
Taking the opportunity to slow down, be in nature and boost our Vitamin D levels.
Sitting (for a little while) in the sun can be a perfect winter ritual for our mental and physical well-being.

Doodling and colouring in are activities you can do which minimise stress and anxiety. They both have meditative qualities and allow you to focus on other tasks rather than ruminating over thoughts in your mind. Repetitive shapes or movements have a soothing effect on our bodies.
The smooth glide of colour pencils over thick paper as you transform a black and white line drawing into a colourful work of art - it's a lot of fun and a wonderful mindfulness and meditative activity.
This is a lovely creation one of our guests spent time on during her free time on retreat.

One way of developing a deeper relationship with yourself is through the practice of journaling.
Grab pen and paper and here are a couple of prompts to get you started:
🖋️ How are you feeling today?
🖋️ What are you grateful for today?
🖋️ What are you looking forward to this week?
Such a simple but effective way to slow down and be present.

Have you heard of 'nature deprivation'?
A 2011 study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology found that a lack of time in nature, despite being otherwise healthy puts you at a higher risk of death. A very real and serious consideration for us all and reflecting how much time we spend in nature.
Our Silent Retreats are the perfect way to connect with nature and also to connect within. Imagine sitting on rocks in the middle of a creek as the water burbles away around you and all your worries float away as the river flows downstream.
Until the retreat, there are some simple ways of spending time in nature - heading up to the hinterland for an hour or 2 hike, watching a sunrise or a sunset or just going to a nearby park and sitting under a tree or lying on the grass watching the clouds drift by.

Take time to nurture your relationship with yourself.
Sometimes we need to remove ourselves from our day to day lives to connect and develop inner stillness.
Even just for a few minutes, here and there.

So often we are caught up in all the to-dos, what about simply being. When was the last time you were simply able to be?
Without thinking of your to-do list, your chores and your worries.
It is hard, if not impossible to mentally step away from it even just for a few minutes let alone an hour or a whole weekend.
This is why we created our Silent Retreats - we take care of all the planning, the scheduling, the cooking, the cleaning up, to allow you the time and the space....to simply be.

Many studies have been done about the benefits of being in nature. The results all seem to be unanimous in that we as humans are genetically designed to find peace in nature. One study even suggested that a lack of time in nature could reduce your lifespan even if you are active. That in itself is a good enough reason to head into nature for me!
Some of the other benefits of being in nature include:
🌿 reduced stress levels
🌿 improved emotional states - think better moods and feeling hopeful
🌿 reduction in the severity of anxiety and depression
🌿 a reduction in the sensation of pain and discomfort
Being in nature is an antidote to our modern lives.
Come join us at one of our Silent Retreats and experience the beauty of nature and how it impacts your body and mind and overall well-being.

Are you a planner? Do you like to know what you are doing in the months ahead? Our next silent retreat is fully booked but later in the year we are returning to Springbrook for our Silent Retreat November 17-19.
I love knowing that I have something to look forward to. In January this year, I planned out a few getaways and events with friends for the year, with space for unplanned opportunities too.
If like me, you like to plan, I suggest booking in for this retreat.
Our Silent Retreats are a weekend long retreat into the mountains behind the Gold Coast and into yourself.
Our private chefs will nourish your body with delicious meals.
One of the magical things about this retreat is the short walk to the top of a waterfall and the views that seem to go forever. Not to mention the night skies and the gorgeous twinkling stars. It truly is a magical place.

😍
What am I going to do in the free time on my Silent Retreat if I can't talk to anyone for the weekend?
Many of our guests revisit hobbies or activities that somehow feel too indulgent to do or there's just not enough time to do them during a regular day.
Can you think of something you'd love to spend an hour doing if you could just step away and indulge for a while without any distractions at all?
📸
Springbrook in winter is simply divine with mist swirling around us and the gentle sounds of the rainforest serving as the perfect background sounds.
Curl up in front of the fireplace in the lounge and dining room with a book and a cuppa, and be absorbed in your own relaxation without any chit-chat to distract you.
You might switch on your electric blanket and hop into your pyjamas before you come to your evening guided meditation (in the heated and carpeted hall), so you can drift back to your cosy, warm bed, for a peaceful slumber.
https://www.findmycalm.com/
Take a moment to breathe and notice your surroundings. Noticing the little things around you, really seeing them and naming them is part of being mindful and grateful.
What beauty do you see around you today?
There are oh so many benefits to being calm.
These are just a few off the top of my head.
Being calm allows you to develop your intuition - you aren't caught in all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
When your internal state is one of calm, you may find that you are more creative, more connected to yourself and your capacity for compassion (for self and others) is increased.
And being calm is simply good for our bodies and minds.
If you've attended a retreat before, do you have any extra benefits you'd like to share in the comments below?
Have a calm Sunday!
One of the questions we are often asked is why are the retreats silent.
"Listen to silence. It has so much to say." (Rumi).
Life is busy.
Life is loud.
Our retreats offer you the time, the space and the tools to escape the hustle, the bustle and the noise of every day life.
And within that space and time you'll hear so much more, you'll notice so much more.
Not just from nature but from your heart.
Many previous guests have experienced transformations and breakthroughs as a result of their time in silence.
They found the clarity and the answers they needed.
They found their calm.

Our Story
Imagine slowing down, rediscovering your inner self and reviving your soul…Join us for a weekend of yoga, meditation and delicious organic food amidst the beauty of nature in Springrbook (just a 45min drive from the Gold Coast and 90min from Brisbane) or the iconic, Byron Bay.
We feel very passionate about guiding you to connect deeply with nature, your heart and others.
Everyone is welcome regardless of your level of experience. Many guests are first-time retreat goers and others keep returning year after year. We are heart driven to make each and every guest feel welcome, safe and at home.
Most of our retreats are silent (the Byron Bay retreat is not a silent retreat), in that you don't have to make small talk or socialise with other guests but you will still laugh and have stimulation from the classes, workshops and music. The silence commences after dinner on the first night, so you have the first afternoon and dinner to have a chat and settle into the venue and it's beautiful surrounds.
