Sisu fam, please keep Erika in your thoughts today. Someone blew a stop sign, and Erika t-boned the van going 60mph. Erika and the other driver (a young girl) are both at the hospital, but they are stable. Thank God they were both wearing their seatbelts and hopefully, there's no serious injuries. Erika is pretty banged up and bruised, but the airbag went off. Thank you guys, and please always wear your seat belts. - Joseph

"A herd of manatees has been spotted in the intracoastal waterways between Hampstead and Wrightsville Beach.

They have been spotted feeding by docks and banks where waterway traffic tends to be heavier. Manatees are very difficult to spot above water, so please exercise caution when enjoying your time on the water." ( )

Manatees are also a federally protected species, so any type of attempted or successful interaction with them is illegal. . Do NOT attempt to feed them, give them water or interact with them in any form. Please do not harass them by trying to swim with them, touch them or get close to them.

We “wheelie” need help! One of our wagons just un-handled on us. We aren’t angry with it, just disappointed (😂). We would LOVE to have some help purchasing a new one! These are about $180- can we get 18 people to send $10?! Even better, 9 people to send $20?!

Hello! I’m Simon! And as you can tell, I can always find my perfect light 💡

Simon is one of our roosters that hangs out with different residents during the day. Yesterday he got some goat chill time, then got some pig chill time with our three little pigs- Winnie, Elvis, and Jimmy. He is pretty much like the class secretary if BLFAS was a high school 😂. We love you Simon!

💔We have some heavy news to share this morning.
Ed, one of our biggest success stories, has sadly passed away. Ed came to us proceeded by an aggressive and “mean” reputation. It took a long and patient road of love, but he eventually became one of the sweetest fellas you would ever meet. He would sing to you, loved to play square off between the fences with other roosters, and had such a big personality. We are so grateful to have known Ed, and more grateful that he knew love before he passed. It is a great joy when you can see a beautiful soul, realize they don’t have to have anger and pain in their heart- that they can let others love them and they can soften that defensive exterior they thought they needed to survive in this world.

The majority of our animals are in their senior years, and have outlived any expectations, but that doesn’t make it any easier. Animals are such a gift, and the loss is the price we pay for beautiful memories.

Rest in peace Ed. We know Debbie is already giving you all the snuggles 🪽
