Here it is… and we are super pumped with the results and the final product the team here at BLG has built for Steve Sole.
He dropped his Rx2 off as a bare shell with a rebuilt motor and a handful of parts, 9 weeks later he is driving it out of our workshop.

We had the task of building the complete car in house, Design, Parts Selection and Supply, Fabrication, Wiring, Tuning. This was all made easy by using our chosen and trusted products/brands and utilising our epic teams knowledge and experience that we have within our team, not to mention having the facility and tools to do this work. Along with the added challenge to meet Steve’s own attention to detail and epic paint job he had done.

The Rx2 features our injection setup now utilising the best ITG filters, one of our matched 2.5” street exhaust systems with our Promuff mufflers, our wilwood brake kit and coilovers front and rear, booster kit, solid engine and gearbox mounts, hilux diff with rose jointed and adjustable 4 link, 4.8 shimmed l*d, our cooling package including all plumbing of the Radiator and Oil Cooler and EWP, custom made drop tank with a new designed return-less in tank cradle setup, Haltech elite 750 ecu, coils, sensors, in house loom and wiring, optima dry cell battery, all new brake lines and many many more things to complete this awesome build.

270hp at 8500rpm, 13b semi pp JC extend port, 58mm throttle body setup, BP98.
Hayden on the remote tune with another solid and reliable tune as always.

We cant wait to go cruising with Steve and his Family over the coming summer 💪🏻💪🏻

Josh dropped his little hatch in for some fab work, we completed one of our full cooling systems consisting of a triple pass radiator, 80mm thick oil cooler, 100mm thick intercooler, EWP and AST. We also fabricated our new designed exhaust manifold housing the new SXE363 and 60mm turbosmart wastegate, 3” intercooler piping with plazmaman clamps and turbosmart BOV, along with a few other cool little touches.
Josh is planning to finish some of the basic plumbing and assembly then drop it back for a fuel setup, wiring and tune.
Look forward to seeing this little beast on the dyno 💪🏻

We have just finished up the exhaust on Karls stock car, running tuned length runners, one of our designed collectors, and our new prototype re-packable race promuff muffler allowing it to be run as a muffler, straight pipe or repacked if needed. The new combo sounds amazing nice and deep with no horrible cackle like some others.
Next we will put it on the dyno to see the gains with the fresh motor and new exhaust setup 💪🏻💪🏻

A little job in the engineering bay we completed for the local Tree Nursery, we were tasked with designing and fabricating a dirt mound that attached to the front of their polythene roller.
We designed the mound to be fully adjustable in height, width, angle and three point linkage adjustable. It was put straight into operation and is working perfect. 👌

Here it is, after man hours together as a team we managed to pull our R&D motor down, inspect and change all internals, changing from Batty rotors to High Compression RX8 rotors that have been extra lightened and balanced, Clearanced Crank, Oil Mods, New Stat Gears and Bearings.
We assembled with no other changes to see a true back to back test from 9.0 compression to 10.0 compression.

A day on our dyno we gathered data on the engine, and to our surprise there is no gains in the rotating assembly, however we are down 10hp across the complete rev range with the only noticeable variation is the engine compression differs, possibly due to sealing and RX8 type side seals, or limited run in time of the new seals.

We completed many runs changing timing, timing splits, increased rpm limit to 11,000RPM, with no gains and consistent runs of 315hp

This engine uses 46mm D ports, RX8 Rotors, All new Mazda seals, One of our 58mm intake setups, tuned length and matched exhaust, One of our high flow mufflers, Haltech Elite 1500 ecu, EGT Sensors, Wide Band Sensor, Oil Temp and Pressure, Fuel Temp and Pressure, Coolant Temp and Pressure, we also fitted a Vacuum sensor to the Throttle Body for testing purposes.
Haltech IGN-1A coils, IC-7 Dash.

With this information we can now use this to support our customers decisions, with our next testing will be port size and timing using the same engine base.
👍👍👍

Another day on the dyno testing some changes to our R&D PP, we have meticulously designed and fabricated our 3rd exhaust system as well as a new designed rear muffler.
We are super pumped with our gains of around 25hp and can now officially say our intake and exhaust testing is complete and working absolutely perfect as a combo resulting in a solid 327hp dyno run.

We can now pull the engine down for internal inspection and fit the high comp rotating assembly, then back on the dyno to see the difference.

Massive achievement to our team (Hayden W, Mike, Eddie and myself) and again big thanks to Hayden B for letting us use his car for testing our own motor.

21/07/2023

Daryll dropped his super cool Mazda Sentia in for a tune, we removed the crank pulley and marked a true TDC and split for all 4 leading and trailing coils, checked coil configuration, new spark plugs and compression test.
With Hayden on the remote tune together we managed a respectable 438hp on 13psi from the 13b secondary Bridgeport with increasing air temps, injectors maxed and un-dowled block being the limit for further gain.

This is one tough street car 💪🏻💪🏻

Photos from BLG Engineering's post 17/07/2023

Our Engineering side had a busy few days completing some much needed repairs to this old conveyor, we had to remove the hopper and belt, replace all the rollers, brackets and adjusters. Also fabricate a new main guide roller with new bearings along with adding some strength back into the rusted main frame.
This should keep the old girl turning for a few more years…… 😂

Photos from BLG Engineering's post 17/07/2023

We have had Shauns RB25 180sx in for a heap of fab work, wiring, first startup and tune. Completing the intercooler piping, catch cans, dump pipe with external gates, under car surge tank, adding in a DBW setup, all plumbing, sorted and finish wiring, sensors and dash along with a heap more work we completed the first start up and break in tune only to find a few issues with voltage and ignition supply. We fitted a new 140amp alternator kit, VR38 coils with Hayden and myself tuning we managed a nice safe 268kw on 17psi. 👌👌
Shauns project has been a work in progress for a few years, he decided to drop it off all to be completed in house and can now drive it out (minus a few panels 😂)

Couple more small jobs ticked off this week.
1.) Another set of our front coilovers using our camber/caster tops, these are heading off to be fitted into a Rx2

2.) Finished up the oil catch can and Radiator over flow tank for Haydens Rx2. Catch can using our flush breather style and Mazda logo cover plate.

3.) A new oil cooler for our Rx2 as the old one was overdue for replacement and was our prototype for rear mounting them with fans mounted.
Now using our new cores we have seen a decrease in oil temps on the road and the rear mount setup works perfect.

30/06/2023

Trents stock standard Rx7 on the dyno running a plug and play ecu. Hayden on the tune managed a nice safe 270hp on 10psi, still running the factory twin turbo setup we seen the stock injectors, fuel pump and intercooler all at their maximum capacity. 👍👍

30/06/2023

We had Marks Mk1 Cortina drag car running a twin turbo LS back on the Dyno for some more boost, after settling in at the track he decided to turn it up.
With Hayden on the tune he managed a solid 793hp, 910ft-lb of torque on 20psi boost. With the turbos falling over stopping us pushing more.
Lets see if he can crack the 8s and 150mph now 💪🏻💪🏻

Photos from BLG Engineering's post 23/06/2023

Mitchs DX was back in for a facelift. We just finished up converting the square front to the twin round front end. Some will know this isn’t a straight forward swap over. But how cool does it look now 💪🏻💪🏻

23/06/2023

Where do we start with this one!!!!
We started building Haydens rx2 for him with a 13bpp he had built and supplied us with, but after a mechanical failure of the oil setup in his motor, we pulled it down. After a few discussions it was decided to fit our own PP into his car for R&D purposes. This motor is certainly nothing special with 46mm ports and uses the FD rotating assembly from our old 13b turbo bridgeport motor in our Rx2.
After many hours, days, weekends on and off the dyno, changing velocity stack heights, exhaust combination’s, calculations with intake to exhaust sizing we have managed to get 302hp at 10,500 RPM. With all this data collected we now know how our injection throttle body setup works and matching exhaust systems to get the best mid range and peak HP.

Our next lot of R&D is to pull the engine apart and fit high comp rotors to see if there is any gains back to back, then we will pull it apart again to increase port and port timing.
Massive thanks to Hayden for letting us use his car as a base.
*Hayden W with the remote tuning as always 👌👌
Haltech Elite 1500 with wideband, EGT’s, and every other sensor for us to collect data.

Epic time with Billy Hol Charlie Stanaway misfiRE
Dyno runs, skids, and sharing all the stuff we do here. 👌👌👌

We finished up this 13” brake kit, coilovers and shortened hilux diff for a 323 wagon. This is the first time we have setup our wilwood 4 pot rear brakes with mechanical handbrake to tuck in behind a 13” wheel, this took some extreme fitment testing and machine work to get correct. Now to be sent off so the customer can fit it all into there 323 as a direct bolt it setup.

Patricks Capella went straight through certification and is now all Legal, we received great feed back from LVVTA in regards to our work and car setup involving the engine, driveline mounts and setup, diff install with chromoly rose jointed 4 link, our coilovers and wilwood brake setup, full exhaust and in house mufflers meeting noise requirements and many other parts of this epic rotary conversion making this a true drive in drive out build.

19/06/2023

Jerome brought his good mates DX out for a tune and to sort a few issues out, after sorting through a few things we managed a nice 218hp at 8800rpm.
*13B bridgeport
*48mm IDA
*Microtech running ignition

Haydens rx2 first start up and heat cycle, how aggressive does it sound with our intake and exhaust combo….. cant wait to get this thing on the dyno and tuned.

Photos from BLG Engineering's post 01/05/2023

We are super excited to finally release our own injection throttle body setup, this has been in design and testing for almost 12 months now, most testing has been done on a flow bench with numerous different styles, designs, and injector positioning, we have finally created a setup that has the most power gain and movement of air. A challenge was to have single piece shafts, due to thermal expansion we seen the blades always changing causing inconsistent returning and changing idles.
We can supply these in 56mm 58mm and 60mm bore sizes. Incorporated is 4 x injector ports and prevision for sensors, NOS ports or vacuum port.
Another feature we wanted to offer is the changeable length velocity stacks, these can be simply set to long or trimmed to have short depending on your setup or tuning capability’s.
These are a direct bolt on to the IDA manifolds and we will soon to be offering with a IDA style k&n filter setup, along with a full Haltech ecu package to make a simple plug and play injection upgrade.

Here is another of our radiators, this one is for Nigels rx7, we also had a tricky task of fabricating a radiator shroud and brackets to support the fans been used. Cant wait to see this installed and his car back on the dyno 👍👍

Photos from BLG Engineering's post 12/04/2023

Its been a busy couple months, but we managed to finish Mitch’s little DX over the weekend. It came in running a stock 12a with a sidedraft carb setup and a poor working fuel setup, after pulling down the engine we carried out a nice street bridgeport, all new genuine mazda seals, new bearings, clearanced crank, new exhaust, fuel tank and setup, 48mm EMPI carb, one of our Rad/Oil Cooler setups, new wiring and a heap of other bits to make this a reliable streetable car.
After running the engine in on the dyno we managed to get a solid 221hp from the little 12a Bridgeport, a nice achievement that our setup is working well 💪🏻💪🏻

Photos from BLG Engineering's post 25/03/2023

Eddie dropped his JZX100 in for some fab work, we fabricated a intercooler to fit in around the factory a/c, intercooler piping that required no cutting of the car to fit, modified a supplied exhaust manifold, 3.5” dump pipe and half section of the exhaust, twin 38mm wastegates with plump back pipes, fitted the new precision turbo along with a few other small jobs.

Photos from BLG Engineering's post 14/03/2023

We finished fabricating and fitted this aluminium dog box for a Ranger. Twin dog compartments, tool boxs with lids and a tie down rack on top. It fitted perfect and locks down onto the wellside using a adjustable turn buckle setup. This will look even better once its been powder coated black.
