Excited to announce I'm launching three FREE wellbeing walks over the next few months to bring people together, enjoy our beautiful local nature hotspots and stretch the legs. Each one is themed (will be adding an extra one at some point just for women if there is interest):
Sat 17th Aug 10am - 12:00pm: Mindful Creativity Walk at the South Hill Park lakes. Bring cameras/phone cameras/sketchpads and explore your creativity through mindful seeing.
Sat 21st Sept 10am - 12pm: Single & Social (+ optional picnic) ramble around Swinley Forest with option to find a spot to relax and mingle more at the end with snacks/picnic.
Sat 12th Oct 10am - 12pm: Mindful Walk with guided meditations (at beginning and end) in the beautiful Lily Hill Park.
Open to all, however please note some restrictions depending on location and theme.

Good morning ๐ and welcome to the first day of the rest of your life โจ๏ธ
Recently started painting again after a long-ass time. Trying to find my voice, my message, playing around and seeing what happens. Had to do a messy painting today to loosen up after getting too much up in my head about what to paint next ๐ scary sharing my stuff here but...
Unfortunately for a lot/most of us, our desire to create gets chewed up and spat out (or totally suppressed) somewhere between childhood and adulthood, when we're told something isn't worth doing unless you get rewarded for it, esp financially. We forget how good it feels to do something for the love of it, the process, the journey, and spend more time worrying about the end result often to the point we no longer try.
So if that's you, I invite you to create something this weekend. Spend some time, whether 30mins or 3 hours, creating something you find beautiful, healing, expanding - and let me know how you get on!

Today I was told a vegan diet is 'not normal' and is a 'poor' diet by none other than a medical professional ๐ถ
He couldn't think of any other sources of calcium than cow's milk and cheese. I suggested leafy green vegetables but he admitted he had no idea. "I'm not an expert" he said. 'No s**t', my face said. Maybe don't try to lecture people on what is or isn't a 'normal' or 'good' diet when you don't know diddly about nutrition hey ๐
Pics are from my dinner tonight. Nearly all my food is home cooked and made from scratch. I still enjoy snacks and treats, I'm def no saint. Don't think this hearty soup is 'not normal' or part of a 'poor' diet, do you?! ๐
48yo and 10yrs a vegan, feeling the healthiest I've ever been. It was a follow-up on my fractured foot, in case you're wondering. All healing well thankfully and excited to be back at my beloved ecstatic dancing again woohoo ๐๐๐
Joyful movement, talking therapies, play, creativity, shadow work, sound therapy, yoga, meditation, reiki and so many more healing modalities are available to us. Those deeper wounds may need more than one type to reveal, accept, shift and release.
Our minds reside within our bodies afterall, they are not separate. They affect and influence each other. We store emotions and trauma in our bodies so when talking has only helped so far, maybe joyful movement like dancing, singing or a creative pursuit will help.

Have you heard of The Wheel of Life? What would yours look like? ๐
The beauty of these wheels is that they instantly show you which of the main areas of your life are going well and which might need more attention. Sometimes it's obvious to us but sometimes we miss an important segment and often those segments have a knock-on effect on the other areas so it is super useful to bring our awareness to them.
How to do yours? Find a blank template online or make your own by drawing 10 circles inside each other, starting with a small one and gradually getting bigger. Decide the category names for the main/important areas of your life (yours might look different to the one shown) and then divide the circles into the required number of categories. Fill up the areas according to where you feel they land, 0 -10 (0 = completely unsatisfied, 10 = incredibly satisfied).
With this insight, you can start focusing on making some changes, more effort or whatever is required to the areas that score the lowest to bring up their scores. Celebrate the little wins along the way too to keep up momentum and acknowledge the great steps you're taking ๐๐๐ฅณ

In yoga particularly, there seems to be a focus on wanting to become more 'flexible' when really, what's most useful to us, especially as we age, is maintaining our mobility.
Headstands and advanced asanas are definitely impressive and we'd assume by default that the practitioner probably can get up and down from the floor or a chair with much ease.
But maybe there is a lot more value in simply aiming to maintain a good range of mobility to help see us through our present and advancing years.
Having good balance, strong bones and muscles as well as good proprioception is surely the gold dust to living well - and doesn't require the stress and effort of doing the splits or balancing on one finger tip ๐
On top of this, moving your body regularly helps improve mental health, weight management, refocuses the mind and helps prevent stiffness and poor posture.
So... move what you can, while you can โน๏ธโโ๏ธ๐คธ๐โโ๏ธ๐ง๐คนโ๐ฉโ๐ฆฝ๐น๐ฅ๐ณ๐ฉต

I've also heard that 'old age' illnesses, diseases and disabilities are often linked to our level of health and wellbeing in our younger years. Those who followed healthier lifestyles (think good nutrition, physical exercises, balanced mindsets, purpose and connections with others) in their younger years tend to suffer less, if at all, with what we consider illness and disease associated with old age.
Good news is, it's never too late to start!

I've been vegan way longer than I've been a yoga teacher or wellbeing coach and whilst I do advocate a plant-based diet, finding what best suits your body and mind is the ultimate goal. There is no one-size-fits-all, we are all built a bit differently, after all. Sometimes we have to give up something we enjoy because it doesn't leave us feeling good, but there are always alternatives and plenty of other lush stuff to have instead. Always focus on what you CAN have, rather than what you 'can't' and it will get easier ๐
Selection includes nachos, soup, sweet potato soup, scrambled tofu, homemade GF bread, salad/Buddha bowl, choc chip banana bread, stir fry...
Mindful days... "If you do mindful exercises and start applying them to daily life the results can be astounding. Many people say they cope better, overcoming deep tensions, and negative tendencies.
Rather than going through life on autopilot, influenced by past experiences, they find themselves clearer minded and calmly assertive, developing a fully conscious mind, freer from self-limiting repetitive thought processes.
