Thinking of everyone of you today who is ‘without’. Grief is the underbelly of my art practice even if the outcome is vibrant and energetic. Since 1991 my Dad has not been at the table and, I recently learned that he loved Christmas which has given me a bit more of a spark this year for the festivities . Christmas and every hallmark holiday is a time when the grief can scream louder and the gap bigger. Sending love to you.If you’re stuck for something to do other than scroll social please use the free demos linked in my bio. Grab a pencil and paper and enjoy some healing in the mark making. I’m thankful that mark making has played a big role in my healing journey. In an odd way I feel closer to my Dad because of it.

Painting on a different canvas.Having the ability to give back to my local community is something very close to my heart, so when the NOW Group reached out and asked me to design a pottery collection,I jumped at the chance.“Art has always been a huge part of my life, and when I first started teaching it in a supportworker role at just 16-years-old. It was then that I realised just how rewarding it is to work alongside young people with Autism and learning difficulties. The NOW Group and I share a similar ethos in that we both acknowledge that every person, regardless of their background or condition, can achieve, make and thrive in all areas of life.I have loved working on this collection and I’m so proud that it will go a long way towardsassisting those with autism and learning difficulties to secure their future. My Dad died of cardiomyopathy and it started with his leaking valve. My leaking valve sometimes plays on my mind and I paint about it… Below is a poem I made about broken hearts Beats up and lines peak. Little pulses move to keep with your ways. One struggles while the other laughs, it’s time to pause for the day.Stop the crying, hold the tears. Grapple your stomach and face, the fear.Of loss and love as they hold themselves close. My broken heart. My forever love.

This print will be on my site this week. It’s called ‘10p mix up’ this is A0 and it’s so so impressively large and demands your attention!

⬇️I say it all the time “ I must be flipping deluded to do this job”. We (artists) have a reason to keep painting and here’s my top 5 1. We wholeheartedly believe in our mark making and the creating. 2. Our purpose runs deeper than financial stability ( if it was financially stable artists wouldn’t become teachers or give up the idea of an art career if their own to work in an office). The money is not the driver.3. The buzz we get from people connecting to our work gives a bigger high than any drug or drink or jump from a plane can give. It’s electrifying and addictive.4. When we discover that we have a gift it helps us to accept our differences. I wasn’t academic and I was truly awful at maths. Art shone from me effortlessly and it was only when my art teacher pointed that out , then I knew it was ok to let strengths and weaknesses Coexist. My art was where I belonged. 5. We owe it to our children. Maybe a more personal one for me. However, my kids have only ever known their mum to create at the table with a baby on the boob, to sit and do accounts at the weekends and to have conversations back and forth with clients. I want them to know that my working hours are different but ultimately worth it and this job allows me to show them life outside of a 9-5pm. …Nonetheless my son said he thinks I’m more stressed than I used to be. Which solidifies that I need to get a PA in 2024. 🤪Thanks for reading and enjoy browsing my work here or using the link in my bio. we#contemporaryabstractart #contemporarypaintingart #irishartistinnewyork #irishartist#abstractartprint #Contemporarypainting #artprocess #howtopaintabstract #artandinteriors #interiordesign #artinsitu #myartfinder #Champagneart

Admitting that grief is the undertone for my art has been freeing. I use neon, I am energetic in the brush marks. Nonetheless there is a searching in there that can be a part of the grieving process. All of us have a gap after we lose someone. It’s good@to dig deep and to find beauty in the searching. I find beauty in everyday moments memories and things. This is a monastery close to where my dad grew up. It’s also the place I visited for ab art field trip in school. Right as I started to think about a career in the arts. The turquoise is my favourite.
