Breathing is such an important part of life and keeping calm, the unity of breath, mind, body and soul is yoga, and yoga is your breath.

When we perform a new stretch or try to hold our balance, it’s our breath that we rely on to deepen that stretch or breathe into a new asana. It’s no wonder really – this is what brings us to the present. And when we’re too busy feeling bad about the past, or worrying about the future, our breath is always there to guide us through it.

Indeed, yoga is a physical practice. But it’s equally about connecting to you mind as well. The unity of Body, Mind and Soul = Yoga.

We can learn a lot about ourselves on the yoga mat that we never considered before.

When you start your practice, you will get to know the asana’s individually, but when you know them well and can move into your own practice and flow, that’s when the magic happens.

Samakonasana .

In Sanskrit, the ancient language of the yogis, Samakonasana means ‘Equal Angle Posture’, from Sama (equal, balanced), Kona (angle) and Asana (seat or posture). In the Vedic tradition, Samakonasana is believed to stimulate both the muladhara chakra (root) and anahata chakra (heart).

The benefits of samakonasana :

•Flexes your hip muscles and strengthens them.
•Improves sense of balance.
•It stretches the spine and builds the supporting muscles.
•Strengthens thighs and calf muscles.
•Strengthens the upper arms.
•Reduces stiffness of shoulders.

Sirsasana also known as, Headstand pose where “Sirs” means Head and “Asana” means “Posture” or pose. It is an inverted or anti-gravitational asana.
Sirsasana is often referred to as “The king of yoga poses”..

•Benefits of Sirsasana in blood circulation.
It also improves the circulation of blood to the brain and heart, enhancing cardiovascular function.
The headstand may improve the blood circulation to the facial region, arms and shoulder and may also help in increasing the oxygen supply to brain.

Garbha Pindasana

•In Sanskrit “Garba” means “Womb”, “Pinda” means “round mass”. The English name is “Foetus in the womb pose”.
This asana is called Utthankoormasana, the stretching tortoise pose or Embryo pose.
Spiritual Awareness : Manipura chakras.

•Firstly align in Lotus Pose (Padmasana). Stay in the pose for 2- 3 breaths. From here inhale, lift the legs up and bring the hands through the legs. Exhale and bring the arms out and place the hands on the face at the chin.
Roll 9 times as the months of the embryo in the mother's womb !

•Benefits:
Has a regulating effect on the adrenal glands and calms an excited mind.
Alleviates nervous disorders.
Helps to control anger.
Massages and tones the abdominal organs.
Stimulates the digestive fire and increases the appetite.
Improves sense of balance.

Learning how to Vrischikasana with

Scorpion pose or Vrischikasana is an inverted asana in modern yoga as exercise that combines a forearm balance and backbend; the variant with hands rather than forearms on the floor, elbows bent, is called Ganda Bherundasana.

Paschimottanasana Or Seated Forward Bend Pose.

In Paschimottanasana, the back side of your whole body, including the spine, is intensely stretched.
Try to keep your abdominals in your thighs, stretch from your lower back,extend the whole spine and then touch your forehead into your knees .

Like many forward bend poses, there are many seated forward fold benefits. This seated bend calms the mind and while bringing awareness inward. It helps relieve stress, anxiety, headaches and even mild depression. This pose also stimulates the liver and kidneys while aiding in digestion!

Vrischikasana-Scorpion pose
