Peppa was dumped in St Charles parish. She was actually dumped in the spillway right before it was scheduled to be opened. Hammy was dumped in St John the Baptist parish. He has a sketchy story with a sketchy cat rescue. He still occasionally limps thanks to them. Pigs are the fifth smartest animal in the world and smarter than your toddler. Pigs are smarter than all dogs. They are completely housebroken but do make messes like your toddlers. During the summer, they take mudbathes to cool themselves since they cannot sweat. Pigs have 19,000 taste buds compared to a human's 9,000.

Big Boy was pulled from St Tammany 4.5 years ago. We were told by multiple vets to euthanize him. He had a torn ligament in his knee and was only 9 months. He was an outdoor dog and had never been taught any rules. He's been such a happy boy. He's definitely a genetic nightmare and not cheap. He has multiple heart conditions that require him to take Vetmedin 10 mg and Sotalol 80 mg. As a result he can not be put under anesthesia. He has dislocated hips so he takes rimadyl 100, gabapentin 600 mg and Omeprazole 40 mg. He also has IBD and currently eating prescription z/d. He became allergic to Purina hydrolyzed food. Hes been acting up since moving to the property so he got Prozac 40 mg added. I think part is having a male dog bigger than him. Plus multiple dominant dogs. He now wears a muzzle while he's with the other dogs. I got bitten breaking up a fight. He's been much better on prozac. He gets plenty of muzzle free time with his stuffed animals and chews. He's still a happy goofy big puppy.

Today is . Since we moved, we don't qualify for the program, BUT we're still out here doing the same thing. Yesterday we took two dogs from Jefferson Parish. We recently saved a puppy that was going to be euthanized the same day we pulled her from St John Parish. We still have animals we previously rescued from the GNO area. We'll post different stories throughout the day. We're still using the same vet in New Orleans. Now the dogs are much happier. They aren't stressed by all the city noises. They love the huge yard. They love to investigate all the animal smells in the yard. They love rolling in whatever gross smells are in the yard. I cannot wait till the fence is completed and they have free access to the yard.

We will also still help future greater New Orleans area animals.

Frannie & Fritzie's mom passed away. I thought a lot about Lydia and I'm glad I could do this for her. They've been confused for months. Staying in her bedroom. I brought Fritzie (the shepherd) to a trainer. I remember her being extremely shy so I didn't want to overwhelm her coming to the house immediately. I was afraid she'd shut down. But so far she's actually impressed me. She was very relaxed with the trainer. She walked around the yard and came up to each of us. She's great on the leash. She's in a lot of pain with her hips. We're guessing she hasn't had medicine without her mom. Last night she was given rimadyl that was previously prescribed for her. We'll start her on joint supplements. The trainer said her issues are a combination of being depressed and the joint pain. Our fee at the trainer is $500, which is deeply discounted. We wanted to ensure she was happy with all the drastic changes. We cut both of their nails. Would anyone be willing to order or buy and drop off a bag of food for Fritzie at the trainer? We want to get her a good quality low protein food. It's important with her joints. Frannie reminds me of a not hyper version of Retha with her looks and behavior. Frannie wants to cuddle. She wags her tail nonstop. She also keeps wanting to shake. She chose to stay in the living room last night on a dog bed with her toys. This way she has a baby gate between her and the other dogs. It'll help her know she's safe. She's unsure of the change. I spent this morning cuddling her trying to reassure her she's going to be okay. She's met a lot of the dogs. She's not scared of them. I just think she's confused. They'll need exams and heartworm tests. They've been off heartworm prevention. And depending on Fritzie's joints the vet may add other drugs. They'll both be on a diet and get lots of exercise in the yard.

LIGHTS OUT ALERT! Tonight will be especially dangerous for millions of migrating birds flying over Louisiana. The combination of low clouds, rain, and wind along with a high number of birds flying over the state will make collisions with buildings much more likely. We ran out of time Tuesday. The puppy has an appointment at 3 pm today. We were $60 short for Tuesdays appt. The estimate for his exam, vaccinations and f***l is $160. It definitely smells like giardia to me. I believe there's something panacur couldn't get. He still needs a name. We need $200 of medication today. Some are able to be picked up at Costco today. Some are being shipped. We know that's a lot but if everyone chips in, it's possible.
He's such a chill puppy. This was him on the ride the other day.
