People ask me all the time why I run.

Here are some of my why’s-
*to clear my mind
*to feed my soul
*to challenge my body
*to compete
*to feel alive
*to have fun
*
*

Not my why’s-
To burn calories
To lose weight
So that I can have a cheat meal/weekend

Often the greatest self care acts we can perform are to nourish our body. ✨

Getting at it with some of my favorites! How’s your vision for the new decade coming along?

Timeline photos 24/12/2019

This one really hit home!!!
This year has been about spiritual growth for me. Especially these last few months. ✨
I have learned and experienced so much and then the days/moments come where what you’ve learned is put to the test.
Yesterday was one of those days!🤪
It started with getting bit in the butt by a dog while running😳 (sounds kind of funny now; lol. I was not laughing when in happened though!!)
Then later on discovered an unauthorized charge on my credit card tying up a few hundred $$’s right before I needed to finish up Christmas shopping. Called them and was initially told there was nothing they could do and to call back tomorrow. 😒 (they actually called me back and had taken care of it for me 🥳)
During this, I was messaging with my dearest of all friends. He was reminding me of the teachings in The Untethered Soul (highly recommend the book). When we know who we are we come to realize that we allow way too many trivial, inconsequential things to anger us, control us, and cause us to fear. All we have to do in these moments is to let go and lean back behind the negative energy. See why he’s my BFF? ❤️
While he was helping me with my perspective and encouraging me he gets a call from his dad. His grandmother just passed away. He got the news while waiting at the airport to fly home to see her before she passed. 💔
I really wanted to be there for him to talk but instead had to deal with mechanical issues with my car which was parked in a shopping mall parking lot. By the time it got resolved he had to board his plane. 😞
We were able to briefly message back and forth and the last thing he shared as he left was that he felt calm and peace. 🙏
It’s one thing to read books, listen to podcasts, seek knowledge, hire coaches. Quit another to then try to live what you learn. That’s where the real growth happens. ✨🙏💪🏼

I found a 7 day detox that I really like. I did a modified version of it leading up to Thanksgiving to make sure it was something my body would respond well too. It did and so today, I begin the full version.

Day 1- fresh juiced vegis with chia seeds for breakfast.....here we go!!!

Anyone looking for a yummy post thanksgiving breakfast idea?
Here’s my recent favorite that I’ve been enjoying most mornings!!
Grass fed, organic, plain Greek style yogurt topped with blueberries, walnuts, almonds, cashews, pumpkin and chia seeds. Then I add about 5 drops of stevia, a little vanilla. Last but not least I sprinkle a packet of USANA’s probiotics over the top.
The health benefits? Here you go....
Blueberries- reduces blood pressure, decreases inflammation, improves lung function, lowers heart attack risk, supports recovery and muscle repair, improves brain function, reduces risk of cardiovascular disease, great anti-aging
Yogurt- helps protect intestinal tract, boosts immunity, aids in cancer prevention including colon cancer, reduces blood pressure, lessons effects of osteoporosis due to high calcium content
Nuts and seeds- supports weight loss/maintenance, reduces risk for heart disease and diabetes, improves gut health, and anti aging
Probiotics- help restore natural balance of gut bacteria, prevent and reduce severity of diarrhea, helps improve symptoms of mental health such as desperation, anxiety, and stress, reduces bad LDL cholesterol levels, may reduce risk and severity of certain allergies, reduces symptoms of certain bowel disorders, boosts immune system and protects against infections, helps you lose weight and belly fat

Looking for a yummy healthy alternative to your traditional sweet potato thanksgiving dish?
Here you go!
Half a baked sweet potato on a bed of spinach seasoned with a splash of raw apple cider vinegar, pink Himalayan salt, black pepper, and garlic infused olive oil. I added a few pumpkin seeds to give a nice crunch.
You’re welcome!

The biggest complaint I get about kale is that it’s too fibrous.
I loved this kale salad because it was literally shredded making it crunchy yet not too chewy.

It’s was 36 degrees and windy AF this morning!
I had to dig a little deeper and get very intentional to get out of bed and go for my run.
I did it though! And guess what!? I ran faster than I’ve run in decades!
Isn’t this just like life? We don’t know just how strong we are until we’re faced with a challenge.
There’s nothing more or less special about me! If I can do it SO CAN YOU!

You will achieve your goal if you consistently recommit to do your best every day. And by the way, your best today may look different than your best tomorrow and that’s perfectly ok!
