Happy national coming out day, my angels!!! Firstly, regardless of if you are out, curious, or discovering, your journey is your own and there will always be a home here for you to celebrate your truth! You are a gift! Now some of you may not know this but coming out wasn’t always about coming of the closet - which is a term usually associated with fear, shame and guilt. Sadly, we know so many of our people have not had positive experiences with coming out to their families and friends. I’d like to take this moment to extend my love to you 💗 So coming out was actually a celebration of someone’s coming IN to the community. Take a moment to think about your coming in celebration… maybe you dressed in drag, maybe you wore the colours of your flag, maybe the DJ dedicated a song for you, maybe you kissed someone of the same gender for the first time. Maybe you were introduced to your drag mum or people who became precious mentors who helped you navigate the world that you were re-learning to see and experience. Maybe they showed you that you’re worthy of love, maybe they showed you how to party safe or how to vogue or how to prepare for your first time. 💜 Next time you are out (now we are freeeeee) Keep your eye out for the people coming in 💗 Pay it forward, let them know they are safe, let them know they are loved and accepted. You never know, that one little thing you said or did for someone who is new to the scene could mean so much to them. If you aren’t out yet and you’re feeling nervous and scared (all very normal feelings) I hope that you can find excitement and comfort when you think about coming in to our community. I hope the love and acceptance you find in here will help you out there. Stay amazing. Stay true to you. To all of my Bi babies… If you’re bicurious (something I considered myself for a very long time), if you’ve not expressed how you feel to anyone, if you’re in a relationship with someone who is a different gender to you, if you’re not in a relationship… YOU ARE STILL BI! I only heard this sentiment expressed for the first time last year at @biconic_events and it was something I didn’t know I desperately needed to hear.
