Decided it may have been a bit tricky to see all the kits đź‘€ so we have simplified the matter, even have handy numbers for reference đź‘Ť Again remember it is just the theme we are looking for. QAFC Proudly Sponsored by Colliers Otago Colliers Otago
Your Feedback Matters đź‘Ťđź‘Žđź‘Ś Still working through those all important design stages of a new kit with a lot of factors to be considered. As we have received a couple more options into the mix we thought we would get them out socially - really appreciated your feedback last time so keep it coming... 📢W O M E N S Prems Queenstown AFC v Otago University AFC Saturday 12th August 2023 ✍Match Report by Holly Alldred Rovers team had an afternoon match against Otago University Reserves team on the Oval. Again restricted on numbers, we had to move a few players around, resulting in Claire Jones playing striker and Vic Gonzago filling in at right back, both who had amazing games. Both teams played some nice football using the big pitch, and rovers were able to keep control, playing some nice passing along the back line. Chances were created but Uni's goalkeeper made save after save to deny the Rovers. We kept up the pressure and soon got our reward when Dom made a great run down the right wing to cross in which was again saved but Claire was in the right position to follow up and slot the first goal home. Before half time another similar goal was scored again from a lovely pass from Madi to put Dom in again who set up Claire, who slotted home first time (taking inspiration from her favourite player Alan Shearer!) Rovers were in control and 2-0 up at half time. Second half saw both teams carry on from first half, and Uni passed it round well but couldn't really create any chances. Dom got her reward and converted a good run with a rocket of a shot firing past a very good Uni keeper. Tired legs from both teams saw a more relaxed last 15 minutes, and a nice composed performance from Rovers. Player of the day was Laura Wallis 👏 stepping into the midfield again and covering every inch of the pitch! Rovers are away Saturday 19th August to Northern, our last away game of the season QAFC Proudly sponsored by Colliers Otago Queenstown Health Queenstown Rovers Womens Football Team
📢M E N S Prems Dunedin City Royals FC v Queenstown AFC Saturday 12th August 2023 ✍Match Report by Danniel Luiz Becheri Bocatios This weekend is our last away game in Dunedin. With only 11 players available, I'm happy to be playing with the boys again in goal. Dunedin opened the score 15 minutes in but it had no effect on our game. We are composed and controlled and have some good opportunities to score just hitting the post and crossbar. We set up well and are rewarded with a goal from Junior Violato finishing like the number 10 that we all know he is. We go to half time and make the only change that we had available. Second half we were looking strong, our first goal ignited the game in our favour. From some good set plays we score the second goal closely followed by a third from Harry Pidgeon and Shou Honda respectively. With the opportunities we are creating and a bit more time on the clock I have no doubt it would have been an even higher scoring game. We happily take the 3 points from the win. I’m a very proud coach, and for this game, a team mate. The boys gave me everything that I asked of them and after a pretty tough season, their resilience has shone through. The dedication and hard work they have put in this season is all any coach could ask for.👏 We have 4 games left and will keep chasing the 12 points left, fighting until the very last second. This weekend we’re away to Invercargill for a challenging clash against Queens Park! Special thanks to our number 5, Benjamin Gutierrez that played his last game for the club and what a way to depart! All the best for you and your family, bud. 📢 W O M E N S Prems Green Island AFC v Queenstown AFC Saturday 22nd July 2023 Player of the Day - Madeline Braun ✍Match Report Holly Alldred Ladies travelled to Dunedin, this time to face Green Island, who we haven't played since first game of the season back in April. We knew it would be a tough battle, especially travelling with only 12 players and no out and out striker, but the ladies stepped up to the mark and battled hard. We created some early chances from Claire Jones with a long range shot and header from a corner both hitting the cross bar. Stand in striker Madeline Braun led the line very well all game and causing their back line some trouble, she had a few chances and got her well deserved goal on the half hour mark with a lovely classy finish over the keeper. Rovers up 1-0 at half time. Second half Green Island came out with more confidence and moved the ball well, getting the ball in behind our defense, but keeper Lana McLuskey came off her line well to cut out these attacks. Our defense was put under pressure but we remained good going forward and scored a second, this time coming from Laura Wallis who have moved into centre midfield from defence at half time, showing her quality on the ball. We continued to create chances down both wings and substitute Kayla Bagrie grabbed the third goal from a lovely cross from Dominika Wandel. Green Island still continued to give us a good physical battle and got their reward with a goal back with 15 minutes to go. We kept battling and there were some tired legs at the end of the game. 1-3 Final Score Thanks to Green Island for great hospitality and a good game of football. Ladies are home to Mosgiel next week. 📢WOMENS Prems Otago University AFC v Queenstown AFC Saturday 8th July 2023 Player of the Day - Carmel Sealey ✍Match Report by Jamie Dunn (Women's Assistant Coach) The ladies travelled to a wet Dunedin with a smaller squad this week, playing on the turf. Over all a scrappy affair of a game with some glimmering moments. The first goal was bundled over the line by a bullish Dominika Wandel following the ball on the rebound. Her first goal of the season! We then weathered some pressure from Uni who asked some questions while we couldn't put away our chances. Second half was back at it with a physical start. The second goal finally came from an excellent run and pin point pass from Claire Jones and a chip over the keeper from Dom for her second of the game. Then we really started to show some quality. Carmel Sealey playing in a more advanced position on the left wing started swinging dangerous balls into the box which put them under heaps of pressure. 3rd goal came from Keely Osborne getting her big toe on a low cross from Carmel. To put the icing on the cake Claire Jones smashed a header in from another, yes you guessed it Carmel assist from the corner. Smiles all round, unbeaten, 3 clean sheets. Final Score 0 - 4 Big thanks for stand in Captain Madi McLean and player of the day - Carmel Sealey Ladies are home to Green Island next week week at the Oval QAFC Proudly Sponsored by Colliers Otago Queenstown Health
W O M E N S Prems 📢Mosgiel AFC v Queenstown AFC Match Report | Jamie Dunn (Women's Assistant Coach) Player of the Day - Sammy Butler, for a great Captain's performance The ladies travelled to Mosgiel for their first game of the Women's Southern Championship, and came away with a positive result. It was a game of two halves! The first half saw us go ahead with a quick Danielle Anderson brace; one made by her own endeavour and one was an instinctive strikers follow up from the keeper spilling a catch. Keely Osborne then popped up with a great strike from 10 yards out and her second was hit with some force, hit the cross bar then bounced off the keeper's head and in. The Rovers Ladies controlled the first half, took their chances, and went in at half time at 4-0. The second half we came out with a little bit of a shake up across the field with Susan Mackenzie coming on in the middle alongside Claire Jones, who moved up from defence. Dahlia Chroscinski moved to defensive mid and Julianna Luiz joined the back line. Mosgiel came out with some real purpose and tried to play some good football to their credit. We continued to make lots of chances and hit the post on 3 occasions. Kayla Bargie came on for Keely and did a great job of being a nuisance in the middle for 30 mins going close a few times. A really competitive game in the end but ultimately a great result for us as the work had all been done in the first half. No game for the ladies next week, but we will continue to work hard, ready for top of the table clash with Roslyn on the 24th June. Final Score 4 - 0 Thanks as always to our sponsors | Colliers Otago @colliersotago Queenstown Health
W O M E N S Prems 📢Queenstown AFC v Dunedin City Royals Match Report Holly Alldred Womens Head Coach Player of the Day Lana McLuskey 👏 The ladies hosted top of the table Dunedin City Royals this week at home on a beautiful day in Queenstown, with great home support! We knew this would be a tough game but enjoying playing Royals. The return of Jess Brown and Danielle Anderson gave the team a boost, with Jess starting up front alongside Keely Osborne putting pressure on their back line from the first whistle, which inspired the rest of the team to do the same. We pressed well from the start which distributed their play, and we kept our shape all game giving us some structure and confidence to play the ball around on the floor. The first half an hour was quite even with some good play from both sides. Royals did manage to get through our defence before half time and their winger slotted home their first goal. Spirits were high at half time and there was a belief we could get something from the game. We made some changes on each wing at half time, and the fresh legs of Dominika Wandel and Madi McClean made a different and stretched the play. Keeper Lana McLuskey had her best game of the season with some outstanding saves all through the match, with one close range reaction save that any keeper would be proud of! Royals got another goal, but the Rovers still didn't drop their heads. Danielle Anderson replaced the hard working Jess with 35 minutes to go, and with her second touch of the ball, slotted home an excellent timed through ball from Claire Jones, putting it past the keeper at the front post with a very classy finish. After this point, the girls knew it was possible to get something from this game. We continued to stay calm, keep our shape and gained control in the middle of the pitch with Claire and birthday girl Susan Mackenzie using their experience well. With about 20minutes to go, Rovers got a free kick on the right-hand side of the pitch, abo
W O M E N S Prems Player of the day - Dominika Wandel đź‘Ź Report by Holly Alldred Queenstown Rovers Womens Football Team The Rovers Women's team travelled to Roslyn on Saturday for the final game of the first round. We had lots of injuries and players away so the team looked a little different this week, with players in different positions, and travelling light with only 12 players. It was a game of two halves, where Rovers had joy in the first half, battling hard, creating chances and another great goal scored by Kayla Bargie! Stand in goalkeeper Samantha McCauley looked a natural in goal and pulled off some great saves. The game was pretty close and we went in 1-0 up at half time. Rovers continued to create a few opportunities in the second half but couldn't convert. Roslyn kept creating and were able to take their chances on goal, scoring two quick goals on the break. Rovers started to get tired legs after working hard, and only one sub this week was evident as Roslyn made some chances and pressed on and ended up scoring another two well taken goals. Player of the day Dominika Wandel had a strong game at right back, showing her defensive skills this week and stopping lot of attacks. The girls continued to work hard all game but came up second best on this occasion. The ladies finished 4th in this first round and go onto a knockout competition in the next 3 weeks for a chance to play in the South Island Championship. M E N S - P R E M S ⚽ QAFC vs Queen Park ⚽ Player of the Match | Ben Gutierrez 👏 Match Report by Danniel Luiz Becheri Bocatios Another great day in Queenstown for the next round of the Southern Premiership! Our team is excited to be playing on the oval again and it doesn't take long for us to prove it! Just 10 minutes in we open the score. Harry Pidgeon secures another goal for the club. Bringing his total so early in the season to four goals in four games. He has shown that he is a great addition to the squad and has been consistently proving himself. We dominate the game with a few missed opportunities to score. It just goes to show, some days are great and some others it takes a bit longer to make it happen. As we roll towards the end of the first half, despite having good control of the game, we are disappointed to see Fabio get sent off. At half time we go to the changing rooms to reorganise ourselves to maintain our dominance into the second half. We create chances with some counter attacks but are unable to complete with another goal. We finish the game proud of the effort and happy with another win to push us into 4th place on the table. This coming weekend, we’re away to play Northern sitting in 3rd, with the same points but ahead of us in the goal difference criteria. It will be a great clash, for sure. Final Score 1 - 0 Thanks to our supporters and Queenstown Health for physio and chiro support. QAFC proudly sponsored by | Colliers Otago
