I donāt remember if I have posted pictures of the snake ring vases I made, but this morning when I opened the big barn door on the front of my studio (Iām in the woods) a little black rat snake fell off the top of the door. It fell off the same door last week, brushing my hand as it went past and I yelled out in surprise. I grew up with my dad showing us snakes he found and teaching us not to be afraid, and Iām very fond of them, so I scooped this one up and got pictures of it with my vase. There is another one of these snake rings that I put mother of pearl luster on, I was actually opening up that door to load a little luster firing. So hopefully the snake sticks around eating mice for me and I get to take a picture of it with the other vase when it comes out of the kiln tomorrow.

Pleased to introduce Chia Kitty and Chia Dragon! These were painted with underglaze right after the kids made them and then bisque fired so they are still porous. I love making pinch pots, I feel instantly connected to and inspired by the clay. Pick up a piece of clay and itās pretty much instinctual to start squeezing and pinching it into a shape. Spotted this week, the rare Morel Pygmy Owl. These tiny birds camouflage themselves with plumage that mimics morel mushrooms to hunt unnoticed on the forest floor. Available 4/8! I do online updates so infrequently that in between each one I forget how much work it is. But Iām nearly there. Itās possible all the listings have been made, but I usually find a few things I forgot about and throw them in at the last minute. As I was slogging away at the mug listings I decided to raise the price by a couple of dollars, because seriously the listing and shipping takes as much time as making the mug and I have to feed my family. If you are ever in the north Georgia area you can always stop by my studio, I would much prefer not to have to spend all this time putting things online (and Iām also extremely grateful for all you beautiful people who buy things)
Quality check on the packaging. Happy to say the mug in this box was unscathed by its adventures and according to my son this was the best day of his lifeš I had to make sure the delicate mugs I made would survive shipping. My original plan was to toss this box off the studio roof but Iām afraid of heights and this was way more fun.

Rutile can be temperamental (it varies from batch to batch) but it creates some of my favorite glaze effects. This cup is glazed with Barr White with a tiny bit of cobalt (like maybe a third of one percent), Strontium Crystal Magic Cool (SCMC) on the lip and Lynetteās Opal over the whole cup. I actually glazed it this way accidentally, so this week Iām glazing a few more like this to see if this happy accident can be repeatedāØ #cone6 #cone6oxidation #potteryglaze #rutileblue #instapottery
