2023.. whew you were a whirlwind. Every accomplishment came with its own set of challenges. ⭐ Urban Pulse launched on Amazon and sold 1,236 bars of soap in the matter of a few months on that platform alone. That same sales channel also lost my shipments, deactivated my listing for ridiculous reasons and caused more stress than you could imagine 🤣 ⭐ I said goodbye to partnerships that no longer serve my business and the direction it's heading in 2024 and I made new, incredibly valuable connections that I'm excited to tell you all about ⭐ I was able to work from my home studio and make memories with my son I'll cherish forever. That same house decided to fall apart 5 times over within the last year. Iykyk 😅 ⭐ The most labor intensive gift set (our 12 Days of Wellness) did amazingly well in sales for the holiday season but I also spent months going back and forth with failed production attempts to get the boxes made in the first place It was a year of growth. It was the year I finally started taking care of myself again since becoming a mom. It was a year full of inspiration for where Urban Pulse is heading. My heart is so full and grateful for all the good that happened in 2023 and I'm honestly more excited than I've ever been to see where this next year takes us 💕 thank you for being on this journey with me. 1. Not moisturizing enough 💦 the cold wind and dry air take a toll on our skin this time of year. This means most of us need to reach for a more intense moisturizer and maybe even an oil to apply over our moisturizers at night. I know it can sound and feel scary to use thicker moisturizers but if your skin isn't getting the hydration it needs, it will actually lead to excess oil production and therefore more breakouts. Reach for a moisturizer formulated for your skin type. Even thicker moisturizers can be formulated for oily or combination and acne prone skin types like our Luxe Velvet moisturizing balm. The oils were intentionally picked for this formula because of their fast absorption rate. It is incredibly moisturizing without clogging pores or leaving a thick residue on skin. 2. Using the wrong lip balm 💋 it's insane how many lip balms contain fragrance oils and synthetic ingredients known to irritate sensitive skin. Instead reach for a simple natural lip balm made of plant based oils and butters. Your lips should feel moisturized and hydrated after using a lip balm. If you're applying it over and over again without any improvement - this is probably a sign you need to switch it out for a higher quality recipe. Our kokum butter lip balms are buttery smooth and create a protective barrier to keep skin moisturized longer. This helps to strengthen the skin barrier over time. 3. Using harsh cleansers ⚡ this tip really applies year round but it's especially critical in the winter when our skin is already drier. I see this more common with shower soaps. They're full of toxins and harsh synthetic ingredients that leave skin dry and damage the skin barrier. Instead reach for a gentle, plant based soap that cleanses without stripping skin of its necessary healthy oils. PS. If you're like me and lovelovelove hot showers in the winter then these tips are that much more important for you my friend 💕 that hot water dries our skin out even more. But

Suffer from dry, itchy or sensitive skin during the colder months? This simple hack is the easiest way to lock in more hydration for your skin. After getting out of the shower or bath apply your body moisturizer while skin is still damp. This works even better when using a thicker moisturizer like a body butter that forms a protective barrier over skin really locking in that moisture to prevent dryness. Times like the busy winter months are when I start skipping simple steps in my routines because I'm so busy. And doing little steps like this takes no extra time and can make alllll the difference in how my skin looks & feels. It's been helpful to sit down and really think about where I want to focus my energy for this year. These photos don't perfectly embody where I want to be at the end of 2023. But they're a nice reminder so I can stay in alignment with what matters to me most 🖤✨

🌟 WHAT A YEAR 🌟 full of struggles and challenges but also some of the most beautiful moments of my life. ▪️we built out a new, MUCH larger and much needed studio ▪️I became a mommy to the happiest little boy ▪️& I learned the chaotic blend of being a working mom ▪️we released 2 large new product collections ▪️we were part of the @makersofmaryland summer & holiday pop ups ▪️John & I traveled to Spain for a friends wedding where Urban Pulse soap favors made an appearance ▪️& I started working in person events again to meet new customers and re connect with long time ones who feel like friends ☺️ Things aren't always ☀️ and 🌈 though. Remember that everyone sharing their highlight reels this week has also struggled in some way. Don't compare yourself to what you're seeing on the internet 🖤💕 To name a few of ours: we ran into MANY problems with our new home that needed to be fixed. Childcare has been a bumpy road, and due to a rough postpartum recovery I lost a lot of time to work on Urban Pulse to make it better for you.
