Sankalpa is the sanskrit way of saying "intention" or "resolution." But it's a little bit different than the way we usually think of a New Year's resolution. It's more like connecting to the truth of what lives inside us, or our heart's desire.

I have to admit that words like “heart’s desire” sound like they belong in a jewelry ad instead of a life practice to me. But I’ve worked with this kind of intention setting before and it can be powerful.

Our inner voice can be pretty negative and it’s easy to be overwhelmed. Having a positive, in-the-present-moment statement as a go-to can be really helpful in training our inner critic to be our biggest supporter.

This Friday in our Candlelight Restorative class, we’ll take a moment to explore the idea of Sankalpa. Join me if you can.��

I hit menopause on the early side. Pretty much right after I had kids, in fact.

So was I exhausted because I had twins or because I was having perimenopause symptoms? Was I irritable because I was a mom of two toddlers or because of menopause? What about the brain fog? The heat?

I didn’t have the focus or time management to really dive into menopause research until the kids were out of diapers. The list of what I wish I had known earlier is looooong.

Tools and wisdom from Yoga and Ayurveda can help manage:

Attention women over 35

Menopause and perimenopause have been a “hot” topic lately. (Get it?) I’m glad it’s getting more comfortable to talk about, but, my feed is full of celebrities and ads for skincare, supplements, and diets. It makes me crazy!

I’m hosting a workshop called Yoga for Perimenopause and Menopause on Dec 3 at 4pm to talk about the science and art of this universal life stage that all women go through.

Come sit with me and we’ll talk about how yoga and Ayurveda can help you feel better/deal better with hot flashes, irritability, insomnia, brain fog, and fatigue. And how it's never too early (or too late) to learn about it.
