Nice little interview with I Love Manchester about our work
"Putting yourself in someone elses shoes can be a real help" The mental health charity encouraging people to talk Talk About it Mate has seen hundreds of people meet up to talk about their mental health in Salford since it was established six years ago.
This is a fantastic case study! Thanks Jane Williams for putting it together, Well-being Matters for making the referral and of course the main man Hugo Webb for his amazing growth and dedication!
This is why we do what we do!
In this latest blog Jane, Development Worker Wellbeing Matters, tells Hugo's story.
It is the story of Hugo’s journey and is a wonderful example of how the Wellbeing Matters team and our amazing voluntary sector organisations work together to build strong relationships and partnerships that help our clients as individuals and our community as a whole.
Jane has recorded Hugo's story as an audio file (includes subtitles) - grab a brew sit back and listen to Hugo's inspiring story!

We can’t wait to launch our brand new weekly mens group this Friday at 1pm at Eccles Gateway.
Thanks to ForHousing Salford and Gligan Fitness for helping make this come about and to all the Community Connectors who support our work.
We hope to create a successful space for men to connect and learn about themselves in a friendly and supportive environment, building on what we have been able to achieve in Walkden over the past year.
A new men’s peer support group is starting on Friday (19th May) at Eccles Gateway!
Talk About It, Mate - Men's Group is a safe space for men to connect and talk. The group will be held Fridays 1pm-3pm.
Following a very successful group in Walkden Talk About It Mate are pleased to announce a new weekly men’s peer support session in Eccles. This gives men a safe space to talk, express their feelings and be themselves. The group has a positive impact on men’s mental health as they are able to connect over lived experiences giving support and showing compassion to each other. Men return week after week and are encouraged to participate when and how it feels right to them.
One man gave this feedback about his attendance at the Walkden group.
“At first he just looked through the window and felt that he wasn’t ready to join in, but the week after he decided to go inside. He just listened for the first couple of weeks, but after that he started to open up and contribute to the group. As the time has gone on he is now feeling more confident to talk to people.”

Christmas can be a tricky period. We may be bombarded with images of 'perfect' families enjoying jolly festivities and tucking into lovingly-created feasts. And this can bring its own pressures.
For some people, Christmas can be an intensely lonely, sad or depressing time. If that's you, remember that 'someone out there feels better because you exist.'
There are lots of sources of support that remain open over the festive period:

May each of you spend Christmas surrounded by love. And, if you are on your own, may you know that you are loved and may you love yourself 🙏🐝💚

Our Mission
Talk About It Mate has grown from a Meetup group where a handful of people would meet to a community of people forming friendships and supporting each other with their mental health. We run various events and we are here if you need to contact us. We can signpost you in the right direction for your needs.
I do this because I care and because I love it. Through my own openness, honesty and integrity, I know I am making a difference to peoples lives, however small. I aim to make this my career and help in different ways. I am no better than anyone out there and I have my own issues to deal with, yet I genuinely think that as this group grows it can enhance the wellbeing of many.
