#AlumniSpotlight on Munachi Okolue, (2022, YA Canada) who recently extended his project to implement a basketball program for young immigrant youth in Winnipeg, Canada! Munachi learned that immigrant youth needed a space to foster community. He involved his local community by finding mentorship, local sponsors and a team to collaborate on implementing this program influencing 30 young people. In this video hear Munachi discuss his project and how Youth Ambassadors shaped his vision. Flashback to when our #YouthAmbassadors from the Central America Program visited the Denver Center for International Studies. They were greeted by a parade of enthusiastic students excited to welcome them to their school. Here participants engaged in cultural discussions with students from an Advanced Spanish class. Rachel, from Panama, shared that "I was impressed with the school's focus on international studies and languages. The school conducts classes in six different languages. I was inspired by a 7th-grade student who tried his best to speak Spanish. He was so nervous but not afraid to speak a foreign language with a Spanish speaker. I learned I should not be afraid to make mistakes as a leader. In my country, my school focuses a lot on academics but not cultural awareness. Once I return to my country, I hope to bring awareness in teaching students about culture from the U.S. and other countries."

Hi all! The 2022 United States Youth Ambassadors Program application is still open! We are in need of more Adult Mentor applications. So, this session is an information session for Adult Mentors. We will have a former Adult Mentor there to share her experiences as a mentor and to answer any questions you may have.
