Simple hack to stop feeling overwhelmed 👇
It's normal to feel overwhelmed at times.
But it shouldn't stop you from doing your best work.
To get over it, simply:
1. Create a list of what to do, choosing the most important tasks first.
2. Start chipping away at your list, little by little.
You might finish the list, you might not.
But you made more progress than you would have if you froze with overwhelm.
Don’t make this mistake (like I did).
If you suffer from shiny object syndrome like me, it can be easy to get caught up in the excitement of new ideas & strategies.
You feel like you're making progress because you’re making big changes and implementing new ideas.
But the painful reality is: you're not making progress. You're just making yourself busy.
I've learned this the hard way.
Real progress comes from consistent effort towards a single goal over time.
For us, it means one thing: being the best agency in the country.
That’s our focus.
It's our goal; which ironically we’ll never hit as there is always room for improvement.

Here's a little secret:
Nobody knows how an ad campaign will perform before it goes live.
One of the most common questions we get is: what will my results be if we invest with you?
It would be so easy for us to make false promises and close a ton of business, but the reality is…
Nobody can guarantee how a campaign will perform until it goes live and data is gathered.
Good advertising is like a science experiment.
1. Create a hypothesis of what we believe will work
2. Roll out the hypothesis as a test
3. Monitor the data
4. Make optimisations and adjustments based on the data to get us closer to the desired business outcome
This could take a day, a week, a month or a number of months.
Don’t believe those who make big promises.

Late payments are the single biggest cause of failure for Scottish businesses ↓
In an FSB study, 12% of Scottish businesses said late payments were threatening the viability of their business.
72% were waiting on late payments.
This is higher than the UK average of 58%.
Part of me questions whether this is down to the culture in Scotland not wanting to ask for money.
But this isn’t a problem about asking.
This is a problem with those that owe the money.
Don’t force your freelancers & suppliers to chase you.
Get them paid as quickly as you can.
The late payment cycle creates uncertainty, stunts business growth and harms the economy.
I make a conscious effort to pay all of our suppliers as fast as I can.

Amazing to get back to events for the first time in 3 years.
Online is great, but nothing beats a handshake, a hug and meeting folk over coffee ☕️
It's so easy to get caught up in the *high* of an event without taking any action.
I used to do it all the time.
Go to event -> have a great time -> feel super motivated -> get home -> get busy -> motivation drops & back to the same old grind.
What I've found helps me:
- Go to less events
- Choose better events to go to
- Take good notes when you're there
- Create an action plan for when you get back
