Trimming: By not keeping up with regular trims, your ends are likely to become extra dry and in turn will split and break off, also eliminating the main source of damage.

Professional products: Professional products use gentler cleansers that are more concentrated, which means they are able to produce better results. Drugstore products are quite cheap, the main reason for this is that the active ingredients have been diluted to maximize profits. You may be spending more on a single bottle of professional products but so is the concentration.

Low heat: Subjecting hair to the high temperatures of blow drying, curling, or flat ironing can have disastrous effects on its health and beauty. When using any kind of heat on the hair, a thermal protectant spray or cream needs to be used to avoid brittle/split ends, heat also strips off the natural or artificial color pigments in your hair.

Hair masques: Unlike your conditioner, they can reach further into the hair strand and heal damaged hair. They contain rich ingredients with natural oils and antioxidants that are heavier in concentration than conditioners. Depending on the amount of damage to the hair, hair texture and hair density, masques can be used once per month or up to every wash if needed.

Your hair needs to produce natural oils, if you wash it too much, you can strip your hair of them. And if you don’t wash your hair enough, it can do the same thing because of product buildup.
Your scalp is at at higher risk of bacteria such as dandruff.
