The second generation from the award-winning Sonetto series, Sonetto G2 is the first collection to incorporate acoustic technologies specifically designed for the Suprema system, the elite flagship of the Sonus faber catalog. Taking its name from the sonet - the oldest Italian poetic structure - Sonetto is both steeped in tradition and driven by evolutions in technology.

On Sunday, May 19th, on the stage of the Sala del Ridotto of Teatro Comunale in Vicenza, Sonus faber unveiled the Suprema system to the European audience.

Suprema is certainly the most ambitious project achieved to date and reflecting the pinnacle of Sonus faber's audio engineering. Building on a legacy of artisanal design and a relentless pursuit of perfection, Suprema honors the 40th anniversary of a brand dedicated to pushing the boundaries of audio excellence.

Suprema consists of a sophisticated four-column system-two main columns and two subwo subwoofers-and an external electronic crossover. This new design was pioneered by Sonus faber's engineering team to improve acoustic performance to new heights.

Journalist Matteo Bordone, along with Livio Cucuzza (Sonus faber's Chief Design Officer), took the audience on a journey through the timeless classics of jazz discography.

Lute-shaped speakers, an iconic Sonus faber design element, combines aesthetic elegance with high-fidelity sound, optimizing sound dispersion for an immersive listening experience.
Focusing on natural materials, true to Sonus faber tradition, Sonetto G2 follows Suprema’s innovative cork internal chamber design and the Camelia midrange. Harnessing cork’s acoustic properties, the speakers enhance mid-high frequencies resolution and Natural Sound quality. In addition, the familiar high-quality wood cabinets have been enhanced with a new concrete base to provide superior stability and better vibration management.
The Sonetto G2 is a seven-strong line up with two standmount speakers, three floorstanders, a centre channel and a wall-mounted speaker.
Sonetto G2 is the first full speaker range to incorporate the new driver technologies and materials used in the flagship, exquisite £/$700,000 Suprema speaker system, Sonetto V and VIII floorstanders feature the new internal cork chamber introduced in the Suprema system.
The Sonetto I and II standmount models feature the clever "Intono" internal duct/pressure technology seen in the premium Amati and Serafino Homage speakers, which combines the advantages of sealed and ported cabinets to prevent unwanted impedance spikes and loss of output from the midrange, all for a more efficient system and better overall sound.

The Suprema loudspeaker system is undoubtedly the most ambitious project ever crafted by Sonus faber. Born from a legacy of relentless pursuit of perfection, Suprema is the epitome of audio excellence, redefining the boundaries of sonic immersion. The first-of-its-kind offering represents the pinnacle of the 40th anniversary year of the brand, where exquisite detailing, luxurious materials, and craftsmanship of the highest quality elevate the project beyond the concept of a loudspeaker system.
In addition to Suprema’s sophisticated four column system, comprised of two main columns and two subwoofers, the system includes an external electronic crossover. The design of Suprema’s configuration system aims to extend beyond the conventional limits of the frequency band coverage and enhance acoustic performance to new levels of excellence.

Each main column of Suprema is a 4/5-way system and features eight front-firing speakers, in addition to two back firing drivers. The Voice of Sonus faber, the configuration of tweeters and a midrange, boasts three new, innovative elements – one brand new Camila midrange with cellulose pulp diaphragm, one new mid-tweeter with treated silk dome, one new super tweeter with treated silk dome. While the materials are in line with Sonus faber tradition, electroacoustic elements have been completely redesigned as outlined below.

Thank you Cape Town Hi-Fi club for inviting us to participate in the Cape Audio Hi-Fi Expo which took place from the 15th to the 17th of September, an exceptional gathering of audio enthusiasts, industry experts and music lovers from in and around Cape Town.
