Mieke and Robbie’s engagement shoot😍 I just love it when a couple leans into the creative process like this… they were such a vibe. Also hats off to these two because this was one of the coldest and windiest days of the year, and these photos were so worth bracing the cold.

What lovely people… and I wholeheartedly mean that. I had the honour of capturing JJ and Meandri’s beautiful wedding day a while back and I just have to tell you the sweetest most heartwarming way in which I was thanked in JJ’s speech later that evening.
JJ proceeded to tell the beautiful story of how he asked Meandri to marry him and the first word out of Meandri’s mouth wasn’t “yes”, but rather “Carla” (that’s me☺️) basically saying they have to book me for their wedding photos immediately. My heart melted. I was dead centre in the middle of the dance floor where everyone could see me blushing of course😂. But it was the most beautiful way to thank me and I will truly never forget that story. I feel so grateful for getting to work with people that shows that kind of appreciation and admiration toward me and my work.

Luan and Olivia’s wedding would not have been complete without this little blue Beetle. It was such a cute and special addition to the day.

I thought it was time for a little re-introduction and life update.

Welcome to all the new faces.
I’m Carla. I do photography and videography for weddings mostly, but also all sorts of lifestyle sessions.

I love romantic and old-school feeling photography, but with a modern look.

Now for the life update.
So the past year, more specifically the last 6 months has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I have not been privileged enough to be able to do photography full time yet, but it’s a goal I am working towards. Nobody’s journey is the same and it’s something I have to remind myself of constantly.

So a few months ago I was unfortunately retrenched from my “day job” and it’s been, well, like I said, a rollercoaster.

But, God has been good to me in this time. In the past few months I have gotten more bookings than I anticipated for the year so far, which actually changed my focus from looking for a different “full time” job to just looking for something part time (alongside the photography and videography of course).

I’ve had to take a leap of faith a few times already these past few months, and it’s really scary, but I am so grateful for how things are at the moment too. I am working on a few weddings and have a very busy few weeks lined up as well. So all in all, things are looking up.

I am just too obsessed to not post a few more photos… I cannot believe how cute this mini session of me and my husband turned out.

What a year it has been… I wanted to end the year off with a little peek into a fun and quick session of me and my hubby. I can’t believe my Mom took this (with my direction and guidance of course, but still). She did an incredible job. I wanted to do something a little different and moody because I haven’t had a nice opportunity to get a little creative in a while. So enjoy.
