Thinking outside the box was a must for this setup - and we made a lot of improvements.
Firstly we have more body in the bass and more detail. Bass is a lot more upfront and part of the instruments, a lot more how we like it and how it sounds listening to real instruments.
We made huge improvement in midrange quality as well with a lot more chest in the voice, more detail and ambience as well. In fact from a lot of people who listened to the system, they could not believe it was only the front stage playing.
There is still some small issues that we have to sort out but they will be sorted soon.

Most customers complain about the same thing….
Speakers dont sound good, the system is lacking sub bass and overall volume.
The solution to these problems is just adding a subwoofer and amplifier and that will make a huge difference in the tonal reproduction and output of your car’s sound system.
The Prime R500 4 channel amplifier powers the Punch P3 slimline subwoofer with ease, the design and build of the subwoofer enclosure is done right for optimum performance of the subwoofer and that is all that is needed. The OEM speakers sounds so much better tonally and increased volume.

So what do you want from a subwoofer in your car audio system?
Will it be a real strong sounding setup where output is the only criteria. Will it be a good all around setup with a good combination of musicality and output or is it purely sound quality that you are after. No matter your requirements, Rockford Fosgate producs have the solution for all of the above!
This Fortuner in at AcousticAudio for a extra Punch P1S4-12 subwoofer and monoblock.
We decided this time to build a ported enclosure purely based on the output requirements from the customer and he do have quite a nice size boot for the enclosure.
The Prime 4 channel amplifier is now powering the rear soeakers as well while the Prime R2-500 mono poweres just the 2 subs.
So what dit we gain over and above the extra power in the system?
We now have a more efficient subwoofer setup which do not require a lot of power to get the job done. With the 2 drivers in separate enclosures, less cone movement is needed to pressurize the cabin which reslts in less distortion. And with less distortion the bass note does not change which is a bonus.
We also can set the ouput levels between front and rear drivers independently to get best results between sound stage and rear fill.
Stay tyned!

At first, bulk sound deadening on all the doors and tailgate were done to minimise rattles, lowering resonance and to stiffen all the panels.
The RF Prime R10 subwoofer works real well in a ported enclosure and if done right, we get the tightness, control and transient response of a seald enclosure combined with the low end grunt of ported. In fact this 10 sounds like a 12 inch driver.
The Prime R2 -300 amplifier provides power to the sub as well as the OEM speakers in the doors. Making use of the clip indicators, the setup of this amplifier is real quick - to find just the right balance between input voltage from@the headunit and output of the amplifier is real easy.
The next phase will be to change the speakers in the front and rear doors and re tune the system. As is, this a real good setup - but with the speaker upgrade, we will have much more midbass, better, fuller and more detailed midrange and super clean high notes.

Phase 1 was to add a Punch P400x4 amplifier and Punch P1S4-12 subwoofer in ported enclosure. Our customer opted for a custom enclosure - later we doing floorboard and sidepanels to complete the whole boot.
Phase 2 will be upgrading the OEM speakers and sound deadening.
This 12 performs better then I expected, and no I am not talking about the output! Tonal qualities, pace ect is what makes this one stand out. I am spoiled with the Sonor Audio 6.1 floostands - I reference what ever I listen to againts them. And with the setup in the Polo, I listened for the speed of the P1 and it definitely did not disappoint! Tonaly it was real good indeed with more then enough output.
Black vinyl covered most of the woodwork - we like to use carpet inserts as well and overall the two products work for us with these normal installations. The red led light gives a good ambient glo and highlights the enclosure just right.
We like the outcome of this one - stay tuned for more.
Ok let’s see if this one will not be romovedby FB😃
This Carolla in for a sound system upgrade.
The customer did not want to loose any bootspace to we finally opted for the RF Punch P1 S4-12 subwoofer.
I said many times before that the P1 12 subwoofer in sealed enclosure will be my first choice for sound quality - when you build a proper ported enclosure for it then it becomes a power house and something completely different from the sealed version.
We covered the enclosure with a matching black carpet, made a grill and covered with acoustic cloth and it fits tightly in the OEM location.
The front and rear Prime speaker sets replaced the OEM Toyota drivers and we used the Prime R2 300 amplifier to power the whole lot.
Considering the amount of space we had for the subwoofer enclosure, the P1-12 works real good.
Super tight bass, nice and low frequency response with decent output is how I can describe the setup.
Stay tuned!
FB keep on removing my post on the Toyota Carolla!

More and more customers is doing it right…..
First sub and amp installed will fix most of what the system is lacking. Then change speakers front and rear with anti vibration treatment. And if you want more power, you can add another subwoofer and monoblock. This way the system will be a lot more affordable.
We decided to build a sealed enclosure for the R2-12 inch subs. The system will have more than enough power to be efficient and to give enough kick when we want. The Prime R500 monoblock do make in the region of 600 watts rms and most definitely can run op to 3 of these subs with ease.
The Prime R2 4 channel amplifier only have to power the splitsystem in front and the rear co-axial set and by doing so we have effortless power to all drivers.
So how does it sound?
Tight and controlled bass from the subs is what we alll want and that is what this setup gives
Real good tonal quality and midbass from the Prime drivers ensures hours and hours of listening pleasure.

Even in Hi-Fi systems, we see more and more customers and owners making a purchase of floorstands or bookshelves and they are disappointed and by then it is too late!
In this case, the choice was easy - our customer wanted more body in the midrange especially voices and a much clearer reproduction of music. For that reason we went for the Rockford Fosgate Power T1675-S split system and coaxial set.
The combination of this set works really well good together - midbass and midrange is just exeptional.
The amplification and subwoofer is from Cerwin Vega - installaion done around a month ago or so. Overall this is a good sounding system. We are pleased with the outcome.

Power T1 split system and coaxial set fitted in front and rear doors - the Silent Coat anti vibration material eliminated all rattles and resonances.
We decided to use the Punch P3 10 inch slimline subwoofer for the low notes. This driver is well known for good transients and decent output (irrespective the type of music we listen to).
For amplification, we used the RF Prime R2 500 4 channel and R2 200 2 channel amplifiers.
So how does it sound?
Well the customer do have very decent hi-fi systems. The type of product that you end up using is crucial to ensure that he is pleased with the end result. And this setup did not disappoint at all!!
There is a type of intimacy present in the system that is sometimes missing in some hi-fi setups. And that is a big bonus. Good midbass, good midrange and good tops is how I can describe this setup. Another plus point for me is that it can do all of this effortlessly meaning this system is efficient.
A strongpoint of these new Ford Rangers and Amarok bakkies is definately the headunits - similar setups will not sound as good in other vehicles.

These days, more and more people are price conscious and only have a limited budget when considering a sound system upgrade - practicality and limited boot space because of subwoofer enclosures will always be a consideration.
Another factor to think about is if we have enough battery/alternator power to supply the system effortlessly so the choice of amplifier is real important.
The Cerwin Vega CVP 1200.4 amplifier is efficient and do not need loads of battery power - it sounds fantastic and is good value for money indeed. This amplifier powered the OEM front and rear speakers with ease. The Vega 10 inch subwoofer in ported enclosure is no problem to be powered with this amplifier at all - the key here is efficiency and to provide all rhe divers effortless with power.
If you are in the market for a sound system upgrade, then look at the Cerwin Vega options. They are good value for money indeed both in terms of sound quality and output.

The RF Punch P1675-S split system and coaxial set, powered by the R2-500x4 amplifier, performs real good in this P series although factory placement of the speakers are not ideal. Good midbass from front and rear drivers is what we are after and the system definitely performs real good in this area.
The sub bass is rich in tone - definitely not thin sounding in the fabricated seald enclosure. These dual slimline subwoofers, powered by a mono block, performs to expectation.
The Silent Coat anti vibration treatment did wonders to eliminate rattles and vibrations to ensure better performance from the equipment. Overall, the P series will also be more quiet on the road.

This VW Taigo in at Acoustic Audio cc for a sound system upgrade!
At first the front and rear doors were treated with Silent Coat anti vibration material - this product comes with a high butal content which makes it real effective. No more rattles and less vinration of treated pannels ensure that we get better tonal performance from the RF Power T1 split system and coaxial sets.
Both the power T400x4 AD amplifiers were mounted under the front passenger seat and is completely out of the way.
This time we decided on the Punch P1S4-10 subwoofer range which is renowned for their fantastic transient response and real good tonal performance both in a sealed and ported enclosure.
We covered the enclosure in a combination of black vinyl and carpet - blue led light gives a ambient shine to the enclosure and boot area.
So how does it sound?
The tuning of the system is done with SA deep house music. I find that the computer generated bass notes can be really challenging - from one song to another, they change in tone and loadness and it is almost if every song is completely different. This on its own can be real challenging.
But a propper build system with good components will perform just wow and this is exactly how this system sounds irrespective the volume.
Stay tuned.
This T-Roc in at Acoustic Audio cc for a Rockford Fosgate add on!
This time around, our customer wanted to add another Punch P3slimline 10 inch subwoofer and Prime R2-500x1 monoblock to the existing setup.
The Prime R500 4 channel amp will now only powers just the Punch split system and coaxial set. The benefit of powering them individually is that levels can be adjusted just the way the customer want - sometimes we want just that bit of added ambience to give us more of a 3D soundstage which makes it more realistic.
We also changed the ported enclosure this time to a sealed setup - these subwoofers performs fantastic in transient response, tonal quality and output. No matter what music you play, this system does it all with ease.
Stay tuned - we have a VW Taigo in for a full Rockford Fosgate system.
