Elsa Majimbo and Uncle Waffles have been named in TikTok's first Visionary Voices Africa List. The list recognizes 15 pioneering young Africans who have a big cultural impact, by leveraging TikTok to entertain, educate and advocate for the African community.

Others are: Kayla Kim Kay, The Joy, Popi Sibiya and Banele Ndaba.

Tatjana Smith won South Africa's first gold of the Paris Olympics on Monday and added the 100-metre breaststroke title to the 200-metre she won at Tokyo 2021.

SA gymnast Caitlin Rooskrantz has been forced to withdraw from the all-around competition at the Olympics after suffering an injury to her right foot during the floor exercise on Sunday. It is unclear as yet whether she will play a further part in these Games.

Judge Mandisa Maya is South Africa's first female Chief Justice.

Maya will resume her position on September 1 replacing Chief Justice Raymond Zondo whose term ends on August 31.

Maya was appointed Deputy Chief Justice in September last year after she was interviewed by the Judicial Service Commission.

She was president of the Supreme Court of Appeal before she was appointed Deputy Chief Justice.

Mandisa studied at the Duke University School of Law (1990), and the University of Transkei, University of Natal.

SA’s Kgothatso Montjane and Yui Kamiji of Japan won the wheelchair women’s doubles final at Wimbledon on Sunday beating the Dutch pair of Diede de Groot and Jiske Griffioen 6-4 6-4.

She's the number one ranked wheelchair tennis player in South Africa and Africa. Montjane was born in Polokwane, Limpopo with a congenital birth defect, and was amputated below the knee at the age of 12.

She began her tennis career at 19 years of age, when she received the equipment necessary for her to play wheelchair tennis.

Kgothatso completed a BSC Degree in Recreation and Leisure at the University of Venda 2010. She currently trains at the University of Pretoria. She's one of South Africa's most successful athletes.

KG is currently ranked no.1 in South Africa & no. 4 in the World.

Caitlin Rooskrantz will represent South Africa in gymnastics at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The gymnast, who started her journey at six years old, represented the nation at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and placed 61st all-around in qualifications.

Is Prudence Sekgodiso the next middle-distance queen?

In her first international women's 800m race of the 2024 season at the Diamond League track and field athletics meeting in Marrakesh, she clocked a world-leading time of one minute, 57.26 seconds.

She is one of the South African athletes who will be at the Paris, Olympics.

The world celebrated father's day on Sunday (yesterday). We appreciate the role fathers play in our lives. It's not just paying the bills. It's far more than that. Security, stability, boundaries, competitiveness, love, self-worth, confidence and more.

However, not all women get the chance to have a father and there are many reasons for that. The impact of his absence are so big and usually, it becomes evident as she grows up. Research shows that kids with absent fathers don't do as well in school. For girls, they struggle in relationships. They tend to gravitate towards older men because they are subconsciously looking for their father in these men.

Have you heard the term daddy issues? The father wound is complex and it takes a lot of thought and conversations with the right people to get to the bottom. If your father wasn't around for whatever reason, we hope that you have support that you need.

South African entrepreneur Mogau Seshoene teaches her clients how to make traditional South African food. She started her business after doing a few cooking lessons with a friend.

Realizing there was a gap, there weren't any institutions or individuals offering lessons in local cuisine, Seshoene left her corporate job to pursue business.

Today, she's a Best-selling author, 2 time Gourmand World Award Winner, Forbes Africa 30 under 30 and Cookbook of the Year.

ICAPA Trust signs a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with The Pan-African Observatory for audio-visual and cinema (OPAC) and Sisters Working in Film and Television (Swift) of South Africa.

The three organizations will pursue objectives like skills capacity building through diverse activities, film development and promotion, expansion of women-friendly films in the region and Africa and establishing a Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony.

She's involved in socio-economic rights issues, environmental justice, workers’ rights, women’s and LGBTIQ+ rights, people, equality and social inclusion within the society.

Eudy Simelane was one of the first women to live openly as a le***an in her home town KwaThema, Springs, Gauteng. She was a soccer player and an LGBTQI activist.

Simelane was a midfielder for Springs Home Sweepers and played for the South African woman’s national soccer team (Banyana Banyana). She used her platform to advocate for acceptance in the community.

On April 28, 2008, Simelane was killed while leaving a local KwaThema pub.
