Glaucoma is an eye condition that can slowly damage your vision. Imagine looking through a narrow tunnel or a tiny pinhole; that’s how some people with glaucoma see the world. This happens because the pressure inside the eye increases, which can harm the optic nerve—the part of your eye that sends images to your brain.
To catch glaucoma early, it’s really important to visit an optometrist for regular eye health screenings. They will do special tests, including a screening for glaucoma and a fundus photography test. These tests help find problems early on, which can prevent blindness.
Remember, taking care of your eyes is vital! Don’t wait until it’s too late. 📞0215953410 📍Spectacle World @ N1 Value Centre ,Goodwood

This week in our eye health series we discuss digital eye strain and the impact blue light exposure has on your eyes.
With the increase in digital device usage, we are experiencing more and more digital eye strain.
Symptoms of digital eye strain include eye discomfort, dryness, blurred vision, headaches, and neck or shoulder pain.
We asked optometrist and eyewear stylist Adele Camarena at Spectacle World about her best tips for reducing digital eye strain.
” Digital eye strain, commonly called computer vision syndrome, is a growing concern in today's technology-driven world where we spend increasing amounts of time on devices like smartphones, computers and tablets. It's particularly alarming to see a rise in eye strain and dry eyes among younger children. This trend highlights a significant issue,” she says.
Adele’s Tips to Reduce Digital Eye Strain:
· Remember to blink frequently and fully when using your computer, smartphone, reading, or playing online games.
· Take a break at least every 20 minutes to look at something about 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. We refer to it as the 20-20-20 rule.
· Also remember to move your eyes 20 times sides ways, 20 times up and down and 10 circles (clockwise and anti-clockwise), to stretch and release the tension in the six eye muscles around the eye, that steer the eye in the correct distance. Fixed position in one direction causes stress on these eye muscles that need attention to stretch and relax.
· Adjust your screen settings, including brightness and glare, to reduce eye strain.
· Position your screen at an arm's length away and slightly below eye level. Ensure good workstation ergonomics.
· Take regular breaks during your day to engage in other activities. Even a brief break to smell the roses can be beneficial.
· Consider taking an omega-3 fatty acid supplement, as it can significantly help reduce eye strain and improve eye health.

1. **Presbyopia** - Difficulty in focusing on close objects.
2. **Cataracts** - Clouding of the eye's lens leading to blurred vision.
3. **Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)** - Deterioration of the central portion of the retina, impacting central vision.
4. **Glaucoma** - Increased pressure in the eye that can lead to vision loss.
5. **Hearing Loss** - Gradual decline in hearing ability.
6. **Osteoporosis** - Decreased bone density, increasing fracture risk.
7. **Arthritis** - Inflammation of joints causing pain and stiffness.
8. **Diabetes Mellitus** - Metabolic disorder that can lead to various complications, including diabetic retinopathy.💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙Question: Which of these conditions relates to reduced vision at near for the eyes?
💙Answer: Presbyopia💙
Presbyopia is a common condition that typically becomes noticeable in adults as they reach their forties. It is the gradual loss of the eye's ability to focus on close objects, caused by a gradual thickening and loss of flexibility of the lens inside the eye. As a result, people with presbyopia may find themselves needing to hold reading materials farther away to see them clearly, or they may require reading glasses. Unlike other refractive errors, presbyopia is not caused by changes in the shape of the eyeball but is a natural part of the aging process impacting the eye's lens.

👁️ **How We See: A Simple Explanation**
Our eyes play a crucial role in how we perceive the world around us. Let’s break it down:
1. **Light Collection**: When we look at something, light rays enter through the pupil and are focused at the back of the eye, on the retina. From here, the light is transmitted via the nerve fiber layer to the optic nerve.
2. **Vision Problems**:
- **Myopia (Nearsightedness)**: If the light is focused in front of the retina, it causes blurry vision for distant objects.
- **Hyperopia (Farsightedness)**: If the light is focused behind the retina, this can lead to difficulty seeing close objects clearly.
3. **Quick Processing**: All this happens in less than a second! The optic nerve sends the visual information to the brain, which decodes and interprets it, allowing us to react accordingly.
Did you know that about 80% of what we know comes through our eyes? Clear vision is essential for accurately conveying information to our brains.

** : Tips to Keep Your Spectacles Safe! 🐾👓**
Today we celebrate our furry friends and all the joy they bring into our lives. However, sometimes that joy can include a little mischief! If you’ve ever found yourself asking, "Did my dog just eat my spectacles?" you’re not alone!
**What Happened?**
Picture this: You set your new spectacles down for just a moment, and when you turn back, your playful pup has already made them their latest chew toy! Eyes wide with disbelief, you realize that your stylish frame is now a delicious snack.
**Tips to Prevent Your Dog from Eating Your Spectacles:**
1. **Designated Spaces:** Create a specific area for your spectacles when you’re not wearing them. This can be a shelf or a container that’s out of reach for your dog.
2. **Training Commands:** Teach your dog commands like "leave it" or "no." Consistent training can help them understand what items they should avoid.
3. **Use a Case:** Invest in a sturdy case for your glasses. This not only protects them from bites but keeps them safe from scratches as well.
4. **Give Them Fun Alternatives:** Dogs love to chew! Ensure your dog has plenty of toys or chews that are appropriate for them to keep their attention away from your things.
5. **Keep Them Out of Reach:** Always be mindful of where you place your spectacles. High shelves or closed drawers can be a good choice.
6. **Scheduled Playtime:** Ensure your dog has regular playtime to burn off excess energy. A tired pup is less likely to get into trouble!

“During Woman’s Month, we are offering a special promotion for all eyewear dispensing services. 🤓 As an added bonus, receive a complimentary Spectacle World bottomless lens cleaner with your purchase of any eyewear.
To ensure your eyewear remains in top condition, it is crucial to properly clean your glasses regularly. Here are some simple steps to keep your spectacles pristine:
1. Rinse your eyewear under running water to remove any surface dust or dirt particles.
2. Apply a small amount of pH-neutral soap to the lenses and gently rub them with your fingertips.
3. Rinse the glasses thoroughly with clean water to remove all soap residue.
4. Use a soft, clean cloth to pat your eyewear dry, ensuring no water spots remain.
5. Finally, polish the lenses with a microfiber cloth to achieve a crystal-clear vision.
For added convenience and care, consider using a Dr. Fog cloth after cleaning. This specialized cloth leaves a thin layer on the lenses, helping to prevent them from misting up.
Take advantage of our exclusive Woman’s Month offer to keep your eyewear sparkling clean and in optimal condition. Visit us today to benefit from this limited-time promotion while ensuring your glasses remain in top-notch shape.
