When even the choc chip cookies your trying to bake make little sad faces telling you 'try again' you can't help but laugh out loud and the start over again 😂😂

I said I would give feedback on my baking journey while in the USA... 🙈
The trial and errors to get use to baking with different ingredients, oven temperatures, all is SO SO SO different. Then oven to high, then to low, then to long then to short baking 😂😂 😉

I miss Snowflake, and Stork bake, spray and cook and and and 😉

When you show one of your proud winning cakes to someone and they say "impossible they don't believe" 😂😂 then I only walk away and say to myself "damn I'm proud of what I do"
Here some cakes close to my heart which was difficult to let go when the customers came to collect.

8 days in the USA and the "I need to bake" fever got hold of me 😂
Made my traditional apple tart with custard as a treat for my family and oh my it was a WINNER 😋
Next I'm doing my favorite choclate cupcakes with colorful deco..

Our bridal competition winner got married the 28th September in Paarl. We made it work after I had a hand operation just before.
3 Layer Moist Carrot cake with creamcheese and fresh glazed doughnuts was her request. She collected all and assembled the cake and add flowers at the venue herself taking with a bag full of magic help and support if needed 😁

When you do a taste test and for seconds everything just stops !! the different flavors in your mouth just compliment each other in a way you can only describe with a "mmmmmmm" and a "oeffffff" closing with "oh my word" and a expression on your face of being in love with life 😍 That's the only way I can describe this 6 layer choclate cake with layers of berry compote and creamcheese fillings, berry buttercream cover.

What is the first baked desert you think of that's ALWAYS a winner with all your guests ? (especially in winter)
For me it's the classic Malva pudding. By itself or with creamy vanilla ice cream, maybe smooth thin custard or wipped cream 😋
When you test your market with 2 and within minutes its "16 malva deserts please and keep them coming" 😋 😁

It's all about choices...😋 the choclate or the vanilla or the carrot or the orange or red velvet...or or or...so much cake so little time... 😁 When it comes to your wedding cake take your time. Let it be the flavor you want to remember with a smile on your face on your 40th anniversary 😉

Lets talk budget. I think its the most dreaded and sensitive word to all especially now with the financial strains on households.
We all want better and more for less.

There's nothing wrong with wanting more its just understanding with wanting better and more you need to be realistic and plan with caution.

A few tips on deciding to get a treat for a special occasion.

1. Decide with clarity what you can afford to spend. Share this amount with your baker and start working from there.

2. Be realistic when looking at quotes or pricetags - know the value of ingredients. We all want the Rolls Royce but what we do have is reality, same goes with treats.

3. A basic cake is affordable pending on size, it's the decorations and the "more" that can eat into your budget very quick. Be honest and open with your baker, be open to suggestions and some changes. You might be surprised what you can get and stay within budget with few adjustments.

4. Try and now beforehand what theme, flavor, filling and how many servings. Give as much info of what you want.

5. Google some images and send to your baker BUT REMEMBER, no worthy baker will do a duplicate cake. Images you send will be an idea of what you have in mind. I strongly believe you are a special individual and each deserve their own special treat made just for them.

So I start over from scratch and whalaaaa now THAT'S a gender reveal cake 😁
I then tweeked the 1st cake a bit and the friend bought the first cake as well.
