Max and Ruth need a new foster or forever home. They are typical playful and energetic pups and would do well in a large garden where they can play all day. If you would like to give them a foster home until adopted, or a forever home, please contact Sandy on 060 976 7790 or email [email protected]. When fostering, we supply all food, bedding etc and cover all medical bills.
UPDATE: FOSTER FOUND 🙏🙏🙏 🚨 Urgent Foster needed for this sweet girl 🚨 Please share or reach out if you can help - As is often the case, we’re short on time to find a solution. This girl was rescued in Mitchells Plain while she was scavenging for food. It is clear that she has been bred, however there is no evidence that she currently has puppies that need to drink. So far we have been able to establish that she is friendly and well-mannered. She is good with all people including kids! She seems to be fine with other dogs. Cats are unknown. She is house - trained and just an overall affectionate and well rounded girl that just needs a CHANCE. Fostering details- What we provide & what we expect: African Tails cover all food, bedding, medical expenses, and anything else she needs while in foster care. All we ask is for a safe & loving foster home & for the foster to attend dog adoption days for maximum exposure. To also be able to take the foster dog to a vet if needed or bring her into our office when she is due to be spayed etc. If you can help please contact us on the below: 📧 Email: [email protected] Please help us to help her! 🙏 **** If you recognise this dog, please contact us asap on the contact details above.
🐈 Happy International Cat Day! 🐈⬛ In celebration of our feline friends, we’re shining a spotlight on some of our long-standing cats who are still patiently waiting for their forever homes. These beautiful cats have so much love to give and are ready to make your life a little more purr-fect! ❤️ Here are some fun facts about cats: 🐱 Cats and humans share nearly identical sections of the brain that control emotions. They truly get us! 🐱 Whiskers are their superpowers! Cats use them to gauge if they can fit through tight spots. 🐱 Cats spend about 1/3 of their lives grooming themselves. Some might think they're a little OCD, but at least they're clean ;) 🐱 They love to talk! Cats can make over 100 different sounds – which one is your favorite? NB: Remember, adopting a bonded pair can make a world of difference. These cats comfort and support each other, and they'll thrive best when they can stay together in their new home. Marbles & Luna 🩷 When dropping off a kennel for a previously sterilised dog, we found Marbles. She looked so sickly & thin - her owners said that she had been that way for a while. They agreed to surrender her as she clearly needed help. Upon visiting the vet, she was diagnosed with Ehrlichia which caused her to be severely anaemic. She underwent an urgent blood transfusion, thanks to a lovely donor dog named Maggie. The transfusion was a success! The vets were still a bit concerned about her weight, but luckily, she went from strength to strength in her foster home and she is now healthy & happy! And to top it all off - Her foster mom has officially become a foster failure! Marbles has officially found her happily ever after, and with the family that she already loves & adores. Luna’s case was especially heartbreaking because she was one of the dogs sterilised during our sterilisation campaign in March. We found her when we went to drop a kennel off that was for her. Despite her owners having our contact details, they didn’t reach out to say that she was sick. She was a sad & sickly-looking and she looked a day away from giving up. After stern words & lots of emotions flying, Luna came back with us & we decided then & there to do whatever we could for her. Upon seeing the vets, Luna was diagnosed with both Ehrlichia and Biliary! She also needed an urgent blood transfusion. The blood transfusion seemed to take, but she then stopped eating and seemed to be getting even weaker. While in ICU, the vets did everything they could for her and we just couldn’t give up on her. Especially while her little tail wagged and we could see the fight in her eyes. Slowly but surely, she started to gain strength & eventually she he turned a corner! Everyone was so relieved! She was discharged to her foster home where she received loads of TLC. Luna luckily had a FOREVER HOME lined up for her already & we couldn’t wait till she was strong enough to go and join her new fami

Bringing Teddy home ❤️
TEDDY PUPDATE! 🐕
If you don’t already know about Teddy’s ‘adventures’, read all about it here, taken from our page & featured by Good Things Guy . -https://www.facebook.com/goodthingsguy. You can also read the daily updates on our page. Thank you Good Things Guy!
Teddy was rescued from Graafwater on Monday 1 July. He was an unwanted street dog that needed loads of TLC. He was diagnosed with Ehrlichia & received the necessary medication as well as the treatment for his mange. He had just started to settle, wag his tail & softly placed his head on the foster mom’s bed just before he broke out. He broke out on Friday 5 July, around 9:30am. We didn’t expect the next few days would be so intense. Freddy was finally caught in a dog trap at his foster mom’s home on Tuesday 9 July at 21:20! The most amazing part of the whole story is that Teddy did not know the area at all, he just arrived from Graafwater which is 3 hours away from CPT, and he still managed to find his way back to his foster mom, 5km away from where he was spending most of his time. He tried to return back twice (if not more) but he would always get too scared & run off.
Here is a short video highlighting just a fraction of the moments & memories that we, along with so many other amazing volunteers/supporters (150 +) will not forget any time soon.
A HUGE thank you to each & every individual that physically showed up to assist, from evening bush searches to wine farm stake outs, to assisting with safety support, coffee & encouragement. To every individual that showed their support in other ways & all the shares & donations, we are forever grateful. 🥹
A special shout out to the following individuals & orgs that made things happen.
Tammy, Fred & team from PWP Neighbourhood Watch From organising a trailer from Melanie for transportation of the trap, to assisting with all searches & stake-outs. And for Freds thermal spotting equipment. Cindy from Cindy's Dog Parlour
📣 TEDDY IS HOME!!!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌 - Tuesday 9 July He walked into the dog trap at the fosters home at around 21:15pm 😀🥹 He is not injured and seems to be in good spirits. He is incredibly happy to be home and with his foster mom! He will be going to the vet tomorrow for a thorough check up and for his next set of skin injections etc. Thank you for all the shares, support, prayers & so much more! 🙏 We will share more details asap ❤️💜❤️
Please help❗🙏 We are currently in Graafwater handing out kennels & doing follow ups. We have been overwhelmed with sad cases & currently we have 3 dogs & 1 cat that will be returning with us. The cat has a foster 🙌 thank you thank you. However we still need fosters for the 3 dogs. They will first be going to the vet so that we can make sure they aren't positive for any deadly viruses. If they are negative & just need a chance to determine whether their condition is due to pure neglect, we will urgently need somewhere for them to go later today. They will need a place where they can rest and to be given the chance to get stronger & healthier. They all seem to be fine around other dogs. We will arrive back in Brooklyn, Milnerton, later today. - Monday 1 July 2024. We cover all food, bedding & medical expenses. We just need a safe & loving foster home for each dog. If you can help, please contact us asap on 060 976 7790

He has been on the streets for a long time. 😢 We are not leaving him behind and he has already been loaded into our bus with the promise of a better life. 🧡 We desperately need a foster for him from this evening when the team arrives back at the office🙏. He cannot stay at our office overnight. Please contact Sandy on 060 976 7790 or email [email protected] if you are able to foster him. We provide all food, bedding etc and cover all medical bills.
Can you help us save lives? ❤️
FELINE FOSTERS NEEDED! 🐈🐈⬛🏠
We are desperately looking for more loving and safe foster homes for cats in need. We have a few young teenage / adult cats that we are trying to take into our care, however we can’t take them in without available foster homes.
We cover all food, possible medical expenses, and any other costs involved during the fostering process. Your only (very important) job is to provide a temporary home full of love and care until their forever homes can be found. Cats are also ‘low maintenance’ but also so entertaining & lovable!
Fostering is incredibly rewarding and plays a crucial role in our mission to save more animals. Once you witness your foster cat move onto their very own forever home, you will feel that overwhelming feeling of reward. This is because you know that you have literally helped us to save a life by offering that cat a halfway house. You have given them a chance to be able to come into our care. 🌠
Please consider joining our team of fosters. Fostering saves lives!

Onyx & Oreo – Medical interventions 👩⚕️🐕🐈⬛ Onyx from Dunoon was cruelly slashed by a person unknown. After stitching, stitch pulling, and back & fourth to the vet, it was determined the best treatment would be a skin flap surgery. Onyx went for the surgery & it was a success! Recovering in foster care & receiving loads of TLC, this sweet boy will soon be ready for adoption. He loves dogs and cats! (and everyone) and we can’t wait to find him a forever home. Oreo – One of the cats on the list for the sponsored sterilisation day in Brooklyn. It turned out that she could not be sterilised that day because once she was anesthetised & turned over, turned over, she would stop breathing. It was determined that she has a severe hernia affecting her breathing and she needed a special hernia repair operation before she even gets sterilised. After a critical surgery with the assistance of the great vets at AACL, it was a success and she's now recovering in foster care. Next on the list is to have her sterilised in the next few days & once she is fully recovered from that operation she will be going home. This is where we need your help to cover their vet bills so that we can help more animals like Onyx & Oreo: 💰Onyx bill came to - R6818 & Oreo’s bill came to - R2800. Your support will enable us to continue rescuing animals in desperate need, where they would otherwise not have received these medical interventions. We will be truly grateful for any support towards these bills! A HUGE thank you to Caught & Bowled Bistro for hosting an amazing quiz night and supporting African Tails! 🎉 Your generosity in donating a portion of the ticket sales and acquiring fabulous raffle prizes made the evening extra special. It was such a fun event, and we're thrilled to share that we raised just over R9000! 🤯 This will significantly help with our current vet bills. 🐾 A special shoutout to Scott for being so well-organized, supportive & running with everything from start to finish. And to our incredible volunteer Muriel for representing African Tails so wonderefully, as always. 🙌 Thank you to each and every attendee and individual who supported us. Your kindness means the world to us and the animals we care for. 🐶❤️🐱

We're thrilled to announce the successful completion of Phase 1 of the Graafwater sterilisation campaign, made possible through the incredible support of our partners and donors. 🙌 In just 4 days, African Tails, LEAPS & EnviroVet CVC worked together and 230 animals were sterilised, vaccinated, and received treatment for ticks/fleas & worms, with each one also receiving an aftercare pack that included food, an educational leaflet & a toy. Huge thanks to @National Sterilization Project in partnership with @Dancers Love Dogs who funded the sterilisations. To @PUMA and GMA Foundation for additional funds towards the project which provided immense assistance in covering all the extra costs. To @Montego Pet Nutrition for generously donating some bags of dog food. We're also immensely grateful to all the private donors for their unwavering support not only towards the campaign but also towards the animals rescued and their subsequent medical treatments. 🙏 Special shoutout to Lynn for her donation of cute cat toys, adding joy to many cats lives. Dr Elizna & her team from @EnviroVet CVC were exceptional as always in their dedication to sterilising and treating animals. Together, we're making a real difference in the lives of these animals. Thank you all for your incredible generosity and dedication! ✨🐾 Phase 2 of the project is planned for September where more of the Graafwater animals will be sterilised which will enable us to reach the goal of 70 – 80 percent of the breeding population sterilised. Thereafter, LEAPS will keep on top of any remaining breeding by conducting annual sterilisations. Watch our video to see just a few of the lives that were forever changed. 💖
Our team is still in Graafwater busy with our sterilisation campaign. This litter of kittens is unwanted, being treated badly by the owners and starving. We need a foster/fosters desperately. They have a temporary foster until tuesday, after which we will need fosters who can take 1 -2 kittens each. Please whatsapp Sandy on 0609767790 or email [email protected] if yo7 can foster. All food, bedding etc will be provided and all medical bills will be covered. Please note: There are no 'authorities' available anywhere near these areas that can assist with situations like these and hold anyone accountable. That is another reason why we are doing a sterilisation campaign in this area. Therefore, we try & find a foster with the hopes of bringing them back with us. 🙏 Regardless of finding a foster or not, we won't leave an animal in a situation where they are not wanted or where they are suffering.

At African Tails, we're dedicated to more than just sterilisation—we're committed to improving the lives of animals in every way we can. During our sterilisation campaigns, we often come across animals living in poor conditions, without proper shelter from the elements. It breaks our hearts to see them exposed to the harsh realities of weather, especially when they've already faced so many challenges…🥺
That's why, in addition to providing vital medical care, we make it a priority to supply kennels and blankets to as many homes as possible. These simple yet essential items offer a lifeline to animals, giving them a warm and secure refuge from harsh weather conditions. With each shelter we provide, we're not just offering physical comfort—we're offering hope and dignity. 🏚️
But our efforts don't stop there. We're also passionate about education, empowering pet owners with the knowledge and resources they need to properly care for their animals. By teaching communities about the importance of shelter and how to maintain it, we're creating a brighter future for animals and their human companions alike. ✨
