The saNeuroGut project aims to determine the role of the gut microbiome in psychiatric disorders in the South African population.

The study also investigates the underlying genetic risk towards developing disorders such as PTSD, anxiety and depression.

The excitement is real! We just submitted DNA samples for 16S rRNA sequencing 🧬💩

We will use the data obtained to investigate differences in gut microbial composition between participants with and without self-reported symptoms of anxiety, depression and/or PTSD 🧠
