‼️ Oversight Visit ‼️ Today, the DA in Gauteng did an unannounced oversight visit to Moroka Police Station in Soweto. Moroka Police Station currently falls in the top 30 Police Stations with the highest cases of rape and sexual assault. There were many interesting findings but what stood out for me was that the police station has backup supplies of Rape DNA Kits in case FCS Units run out. The next interesting thing we were briefed on was the high number of cases being withdrawn after investigations have been completed. For me, this is something we must talk about and understand why this happens. The Victim Empowerment (VEP) Room at Moroka, as you can see, is big, it’s not cold and dark but rather open and colourful. This is a great finding and even though there is still a lot of work to do, this is a good start Let me know if there are any SAPS in your community you want me to visit!
