Villa Viva,
The name itself reflects the experience you will have here. I lived 100% in the present, and if you yearn to live in the moment, it wasn’t difficult to feel that here. From the first day of getting to know the place, I already felt at home and welcomed. I learned a lot, both from other people and from my own self-awareness. I unlocked my English and rediscovered myself. I am immensely grateful to Moritz for this experience, to Muji for being my best friend here, to Bianca for making me feel so special, and to Cya for making me laugh with her unique personality. Everyone was very important to me on this journey. Thank you all, enjoy the journey 🤍

Philanthropist, storyteller, healer, visionary, and a chosen vessel from the gods are a few words to describe the vocal prowess that is Buhlebendalo. Born and raised in the dusty yet prominent streets of Soweto, she is no stranger to the stage. She has embarked on her solo career after serving as a singer and songwriter and producer with her previous group, The Soil.

Her enchanting voice has taken her across Europe, Asia, North, and South America and circled back to the land of her forefathers to pay homage the originators of the music embedded in her veins.

Buhlebendalo’s debut album Chosi is a much needed conversation starter to those seeking understanding of self through spirituality.

A transcendent work of art scribed by her higher self. She has fully embraced her calling and uses her music to accompany souls from different rhelms. The stage is Buhlebendalo’s safest place. When her feet start tapping to the beat of the drum, it is as though the heavens are clapping in jubilation. She has formulated an all female band to accompany the messaging in her music. Buhlebendalo has healing powers that need no introduction nor translation because it shoots straight to the soul awakening the spirit of Ntu.

Doors open at 6pm Jam session starts at 8pm

Vimbai from Zimbabwe 🫰🏻
Volunteering at the Villa Viva for three months, this villa has been such a safe and easy haven while I am going through a big transition in life, call it a „pivot“. The people and energy in the place has been especially inspiring as much of the growth has been largely on the different interactions with sojourners. I am grateful to have been lead to this place where my mind found clarity.

Greetings everyone :)
My name is Nima Tanbakouchi

I’ve been a volunteer at Villa Viva for 6 weeks now and as of writing this in shock of how fast the time has past since my arrival. At first I was a bit unsure of my stay being 20 and never leaving home for a longer time period however I have nothing but great things to say about the Capetown, especially the villa. I’ve made so many new friends that made my journey here super memorable und I am more than thankful to everyone who welcomed me with open arms and really made me feel home. I’m more than looking forward towards my next 6 weeks here and will never forget the great memories I’ve had the pleasure of sharing with everyone around me.
Big thank you 🫶🏿❤️

Heyy beautiful people!

My name is Femke aka Femi, Famsa, Efi, Famki, spotify 😅. I’m 33 years old and I’m from Brussels, Belgium.

Last year I went through a phase where i was questioning my purpose in life, feeling stuck in ‘the rat race’, with a seemingly unrealistic dream of running my own hostel in 🇬🇭. Volunteering at Villa Viva has been the first step into making that dream become reality.

I’m forever grateful that I could be part of this glorious team. I met so many beautiful souls, from all walks of life, some of which felt like home from the very beginning. The amount of love I felt in this place is unmatched. Not to mention the daily hugs 🥹🫶🏻. Let’s make that a habit in Europe as well!

Shout out to everybody in this big, loving Villa Viva family for creating this place of togetherness!

Counting my blessings 🇿🇦❤️🍉.

Wednesday Wisdom Rolls💦

Around 60% of the body is made up of water, and around 71% of the planets surface is covered by water.

Water is essential for life, but is also the world's most threaten-ed essential resource.

Here are five benefits of drinking water:

1. Boosts skin health and overall beauty. It flushes out toxins that dull your face and ensure a healthy glow.

2. It helps keep our mouth, nose, and eyes moist thus preventing unwanted friction by keeping them all lubricated.

3. Flushes body waste; water
is essential for flushing out unwanted body wastes via sweating, urine etc.,

4. Digestive system; water is one of the major components that promote the smooth functioning of our digestive tract.

5. Oxygen and breathing; water makes for 90% human blood. As blood carries oxygen around the body, keeping your body hydrated is important.

Esther Mahlangu is a 87 years old South African artist who made the ethnic pattern of Ndebele nation famous worldwide. She creates large-scale contemporary paintings that reference her heritage.
Esther was born in a farm located outside of Middelburg, South Africa, and belongs to the South Ndebele people, and was taught the skill of mural painting by her mother and grandmother.

Exterior paintings are a tradition of her native South Ndebele people only for women and girls. The patterns have not only a decorative but also a special meaning for the families that live in the painted houses.

She has mastered her skills day by day and started painting geometric patterns on clothing and jewelry using traditional brushes made from chicken feathers.

Esther became well-known in 1991 after she was commissioned by BMW to create a concept art car and stood in a row with Andy Warhol, David Hockney and Frank Stella. The car was later exhibited at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC and at the British Museum, London.

If you come to South Africa, you can see ndebele patterns used on fabrics, furniture, etc. We admire local traditional and contemporary artists and we are excited to explore the national art heritage with our guests at Villa Viva together.

Meet Annie Akinyi Kamya (30 years old).

Annie works as a receptionist, and has been with Villa Viva for over a month now. I came across Villa Viva online and I thought to write them via email, to make a long story short; I was given the opportunity to work for Villa Viva Guest House.

Villa Viva is more than just a guest house, it helps contribute to a good cause by providing and helping people with water sanitation and Water For All💧All For Water movement project (Viva Con Agua). I would also love to contribute as much as I can to the sanitation project because I see the need for water to being essential for human life and I'm sure others feel the same way.

I love dry jokes, watching YouTube videos and I enjoy areas in fashion and music in my spare time. I like to make order in chaos and I thrive in creative environments. I also love helping people achieve their goals and this enables me to help guests when they visit the Villa.

Villa Viva is a safe space to lay your head, it gives you comfort and the peace which I believe everyone needs at one point.

🎊 Happy Friday To You All And Enjoy Your Day Because Happiness Is A Day And It's Called Friday 🎉

Conservation of nature means the preservation of water, forests, land, fuels, minerals and natural gases.

Earth is our home and we have to love it. Here are 5 simple ways you can help preserve nature:

1. Talk about it with friends and family. The more people are aware of the environmental protection methods, the more chances we have to make things better.

2. Conserve energy with small gestures such as turning off electric appliances or replacing regular bulbs with energy saving light bulbs.

3. Reduce water consumption, by turning the tap off while you brush, reduce the number of baths and use the machine only when you have a full load of clothes.

4. Recycle everything you can and try to buy reusable and biodegradable products.

5. Plant vegetables - plants are considered a critical resource because of the many ways they support life on earth e.g., provide habitat and food for wildlife and humans.

Meet Our newest Member Giovanna de Oliveira Romagnoli, a 25 year old from Brazil. She has been with Villa Viva for a week now and is here to show us her skills at our one and only devil's peak Bar as a volunteer.

I got to know about Villa Viva from Google and immediately got in love with the place. My plan was to come as a guest but I saw the place was looking for volunteers and I realized that I am able to help in more than one area. So I contacted management, told them about my passion and how Villa Viva strongly relates to me.

Thereafter, I came for an interview and everything was good. I find Villa Viva as a great place to be and am happy to be here.

I love cooking vegan food, as I am vegan and I must say am a little bit of a food addict. In addition, art is one of the things that interests me, interacting with people, learning about new cultures, painting, and I also have an interest in studying everything about astrology. Last but not least, I try to stay close to nature as much as I can.

My goal is to enhance my English skills which will enable me to interact with people from various backgrounds .

Villa Viva is a beautiful and organized place. It's more than just a guest house but it is a place for art expositions, social activities, and it is right in the heart of Cape Town and I am sure everyone will be in love with Skoli- the Villa's cute cat.

💖Enjoy your day because life is good especially on a Friday 💖

Wisdom Wednesday
Did you know that; saving a drop of water every day, helps to ensure that there will be enough for people to use in your community. Here are a few possible ways to save water: 1) Take shorter showers. 2) Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. 3) Don’t run the hose while washing your car , you can first soap down the car from a pail of soapy water then use a hose only to rinse it. 4) If you wash dishes by hand, don’t leave the water running for rinsing. If you have two sinks, fill one with rinse water. 5) Don’t let the faucet run while you clean vegetables. Rinse your vegetables instead in a bowl or a sink full of clean water. The rule for saving water should be reduce, reuse and recycle. “Water is a human RIGHT” Viva Con Agua.

Meet Cristina,

A 24 year old girl from Lusaka Zambia, who is passionate about cooking, back in her country she was an entrepreneur making people happy with her food.

I really thought hard on what I can do differently with my life before making a big step in my career as an entrepreneur. This is when I thought to myself "wait a minute, I have never travelled", and this is because travelling is not something we have done in my family. I always felt that in order to grow as a person you need to visit places you have never been and move beyond your comfort zone.

When I first started travelling, it was exciting and doing nothing for the first time in my life besides relaxing and visiting new places was amazing. Having travelled for seven months, it started getting old and I felt that I was losing focus in my life and didn't have much of an impact. So I needed a purpose, to make my travel more meaningful; this is when I came across Villa Viva Guest House and I was amazed with its connection with Viva Con Agua (Community Development Projects ).

Whilst in Cape Town I have been volunteering with Villa Viva and my objectives are working at the reception, and partly creating online content. At the same time I plan to continue following my entrepreneurial spirit and building up my personal brand online.

Through travelling I am learning new cultures, languages, adapting to new environments, and meet new people from diverse backgrounds thus helps me to keep an open mind at all times. This really puts a smile on my face because this opportunity allows me to travel with a purpose whilst making an impact.

Villa Viva is a home to diverse people from all various backgrounds, social, and a comfort space. A must see place!

Enjoy your day because happiness is a day and it’s called Friday Night 🥳

🎭“FRIDAY FACES “ 🎭

Meet Gasmea Adams,

A 31 Year old woman and a mother of 2 beautiful girls residing in Bonteheuinel, who takes pride in her work at Villa Viva.

Gasmea started working for Villa Viva in October 2021. It all started with her passion for cooking and cleaning for her family, this motivated her to do more.

When asked about her work, she said "Where do I begin? I love being a mom and my children are my pride, they complete me but even so I still needed something to do as i not only want them to be proud but also look up to me".

So in the process i asked my husband Riyaaz who was part of Villa Viva renovation team at the time about future Job opportunities. Unfortunately the villa was going under Renovations at the time but was told to check with them once the renovations were done a few months later i received a call from management and I was told they needed someone in housekeeping as they were short-staffed and I couldn't believe my ears, I asked myself how they knew that housekeeping was exactly where I wanted to be.

Furthermore, Gasmea said "I have been working for villa villa since day one I love working at Villa Viva because I wanted to work in a place like this with friendly staff and doing something I love"

I am in housekeeping and my duties are to make sure the place is clean and spotless, but the best part about my job is the people around which in my opinion contributes to the performance of the job and the kind guests we receive makes my job even easier and makes me love it even more as it is also my hobby.

Besides work I love seeing my family happy and strange funny people "Lol". I enjoy reading, doing crossword puzzles and cleaning.

What comes to mind when I hear the word Villa Viva, It's a place of comfort with a friendly staff and atmosphere it is a home away from home because everyone needs a place they can feel at home and safe just that comfort it gives you is one of the reasons I would advise anyone to visit the villa.

Enjoy your day because Happiness is a day and it's called Friday 🥳
