Thanks to for this amazing illustration that decorates our tote bags for this year’s Cannes Festival of Creativity in collaboration with .co.

It’s our take on the lion statue at St. Marks in Venice, which was the very first place that hosted the festival back in 1954, and was the inspiration for the festival’s logo.

It’s a visual testament to our evolution; a lens encircled by a planet’s ring. It symbolises our growth and expansive presence, capturing the essence of what we’ve built together, a global production powerhouse that’s far from little.

LITTLE but actually, quite BIG.

This is RX J1856.5-3754. It’s a neutron star.

Compared to other stars, neutrons are some of the smallest in the universe, with diameters of about 14 km. However, because its gravity is a thousand billion times stronger than Earth’s, a teaspoon of neutron star weighs the same as the entire human population.

A little star that pulls big weight.

We’ve rebranded.

WHAT DOES A PRODUCER DO?

Time and again we are asked about the role of a .

What do they do?
Why do we need them?
Is this cost necessary?

MANY HATS
Your producer is responsible for overseeing all elements of pre-production, production, and post-production, right up to final delivery. Your video begins and ends with the producer. They are magical people who manage, collaborate, enable, and solve technical and creative logistical problems. They work tirelessly behind the scenes, providing the necessary structure and resources for the creatives to bring your visions to life.

It is the producer’s job to:

1. Create a production budget and timeline for the project.
2. Hire key members of the creative and production team.
3. Manage the production budget vs the director’s dreams (which can be tricky).
4. Create call sheets and manage the day-to-day operation of the production team.
5. Resolve any problems that arise in a calm and professional manner.
6. Oversee the editing process.

In summary, the producer is responsible for delivering great work, on time, within the budget. They are there to remain focused on the bigger picture – and will make sure the production machine runs smoothly and efficiently from concept to completion.

3 EVENT-INDUSTRY TRENDS TO KEEP AN EYE ON IN 2021

1. VIRTUAL EVENTS AREN’T GOING ANYWHERE

Now that we’re all on board with remote everything (and with Covid-19 not fading anywhere near as fast as we’d like), you can expect virtual events to continue to be a key feature of our lives.

But how do you stop your event coming off like nothing more than a well-attended webinar? By having good content. You need to invest in AV specialists who can ensure that both your pre-recorded and livestreamed content is bordering on Hollywood quality.

2. HYBRIDS ARE HAPPENING

A hybrid is a combo of in-person attendees and those accessing the event remotely – and they’re going to be the norm when the world opens up again. Why? Because we’re a global village and you don’t want to leave out potential audience members just because they can’t make it to your GPS location.



The catch is, if you want to sell virtual attendance at a decent price, you need to make the experience valuable and immersive for everyone, whether they’re physically present or joining in from another time zone. 3. VR AND AR

Virtual reality and 360 livestreams immerse your remote audience in your content in a way that 2D-streaming just can’t match.


Augmented reality, on the other hand, enhances the physical world for in-person attendees by overlaying a user’s view with visual and auditory effects in real time (think Pokemon Go). Imagine holding up your phone and watching the Burning Man sculpture in front of you coming to life, or seeing through human skin to the inner workings of a body at a medical conference.

AUDIO SWEETENING - LittleBig demystifies production terms!

Now this is not when someone whispers sweet nothings into your ear....Even if you shoot with high-quality equipment, chances are your audio won’t come out perfectly crisp without a little help. When we talk about ‘sweetening’, we’re removing any low-level sounds in the background; the distant hum of traffic, for example, or the barely audible but still annoying buzz of a fluorescent bulb. We’ll also add bass or treble to voices so they’re pitch perfect. Sound effects – the hiss of a cooldrink can, the turn of a key in a lock – can be added during this process too.

POST - LittleBig demystifies production terms!

Not an envelope delivered to your door or slipped into a little red post box. ‘Post’ is short for ‘post production’. This is when we assemble shots into the final video, colour-grade and colour-correct (basically enhancing and standardising the visuals), and sweeten the audio.

(HELLO) DOLLY GRIP - LittleBig Global demystifies production terms!

Not to be confused with this Dolly. A dolly is something like a rollercoaster cart and miniature set of train tracks for a camera, and is used to capture smooth horizontal movement. The camera operator and their assistant sit inside the cart, which is moved by a technician called a (you guessed it) dolly grip.
