Context is important
Is this sunrise or sunset? It can be hard to tell if you don't have more information, like which way was I facing when taking the photo.
Sometimes things don't need an explanation because it's just beautiful, no matter the context.
So what do you think?
I did a really hard thing.
Running my first half marathon was really tough. The entire journey over the last 11 weeks has been more than amazing. It's been a key moment in life for me.
Even though it was really hard, I'd not change a single thing.
I mention a few people from Facebook and LinkedIn in this video. Was it you?
Why the Knysna Forest Marathon was a really hard thing to do On the 22nd of June 2024 I set out to run my first marathon. Now I'm under no illusion that this shouldn't be "news" for anyone, whether or not you're into r...
I didn't just wake up one day (not too long ago) and decide I want to take on this challenge of running my first marathon at the age of 48.
It wasn't that I felt that 9 weeks to prepare is such an insanely short time that it would make for great content. It was that my mind had a doorway opened up from doing really small challenges, and that was the thing I wasn't expecting.
I wasn't expecting to feel like I had the ability to run up a mountain, twice, after just three weeks of doing my first 5km. This led to more ambitious goals and eventually my mind got the idea that I could make it 42 km's in just 9 weeks.
The REAL reason I'm running Knysna Forest marathon I didn't just wake up one day (not too long ago) and decide I want to take on this challenge of running my first marathon at the age of 48. It wasn't that I ...
The gear we use can greatly improve our performance.
* Using a laptop vs a Desktop
* Using a mobile phone or tablet computer
These tools help us make progress in our working careers.
However, often we jump into gear far too quickly, assuming it's the silver bullet to success, instead of evaluating our readiness and expected discomfort because the task ahead is new
Here I discuss (at length) just how I've arrived at the gear I'm using to prepare for my first-ever full marathon
The Gear I use when Running When I started training for my first marathon I simply started with whatever I had in my clothing drawer. Nothing fancyWhile I have moved up to some newer th...
Failure is never fun.
As I've grown in my career as an entrepreneur I've come to realise that failure is not the end, it's just a step in the journey.
That same thinking needed to be applied in this run. I had aimed to run 28 - 30 kilometres, as I prepare to take on my first full marathon ever, and I only managed to make it to 21 km before stopping.
Was it ideal - NO
However, I do recognise that I was able to make it 21km and this has been the 3rd week in a row that I'm running this kind of distance. Week 1: 18.8km Week 2: 23.3km Week 3: 21km So what else did I learn? After lots of water, my body recovered very quickly.
I filmed this video the next day and I had nearly no pain. Do you have something that you'd love to do that you have yet to try? I'd love to know your story.
I Failed to Run the distance Failure is never fun. As I've grown in my career as an entrepreneur I've come to realise that failure is not the end, it's just a step in the journey. That sa...
I'm looking for some advice about Sir Lowry's pass.
I want to do a run up the pass but not sure about permission (not danger, permission)
I get that the road can be dangerous but I want to not get arrested (as I have a flight later the day).
Does anyone know if you can just run up the road or if you need permission or if there's a trial route that I can use?
I'm unfit and will probably die, but the adventure is what it's all about
This is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever shared.
This is Uncomfortable This has taken me a year to make. It's a journey of taking my camera out in public, setting up the stand, and hitting record. It was incredibly hard in the be...
Just hit record.
This is my advice to anyone trying to get into video.
Samantha-Leigh Hayward asked this question this week and Friday morning, while out for some inspiration, I thought of the questions and what would I do.
So I did what I advised and I just hit record.
This is the full recording.
Just hit Record, Samantha
Just hit Record, Samantha Far too often we get stuck with trying to get things perfect, or maybe we need to tweak just one more thing, or maybe I need to first learn how to get sound ...
My thoughts are cloudy and my feet are not on solid ground.
This has been a common scenario at this time of year. My thoughts are filled with clouds and I don’t seem to be making any solid progress.
That’s why I learned this one very simple practice and that’s taking time to reflect on your progress.
While I do short sprints of this during the year at each quarter I still find myself feeling like I’m in the home stretch of a long race and gasping for air while looking for that finish line
That why doing a ‘Year in Review’ is such an amazing tool. Just like using my calendar instead of a task manager, it gives me clarity on what I achieved and how much time I spent on it.
If gives me perspective, driven by data.
It tells me, without favour or prejudice, what I really achieved. Often to my pleasant surprise.
If you’d like to get a taste of this and witness me go through this process and maybe share in your own process then I’d like to invite you to join me on the 5th December as I go through my ‘Year in Review’.
The link is in my Bio to set your intention to no longer be a victim to end of year blues.

Think about all your dreams and aspirations. How will you get those if you don't sell others and yourself and the work needed to get there?
Sales isn't about money. It's about a life you want to create for yourself and your family
How to get back the enthusiam for your business
I think we all have something really valuable to add to the world around us.
What if there was something more than just "NO" that we feared in Sales.
What if we feared the "Yes" more than anything else
