Africans are joyful and radiant. “I realised that there is more images and more stories of joy than there is of remorse,” says Kenyan Filmmaker and Writer Wanuri Kahiu of her search for African stories of joy.
In her talk Conference revealed how the Kenya Classification Board banned her film Rafiki after she refused their request for her to change the ending and make it less hopeful but more remorseful.

‘Welcome to Tribuneville’ an exhibition project by architectural cartoonist Klaus and MAS Context which invites viewers to step into an alternate reality of the Chicago. This imaginative project revives the visionary spirit of a 1922 architectural competition held by the Chicago Tribune, which invited architects from around the globe to design an iconic skyscraper for the city. Through design submissions, guests get a glimpse of the Chicago that could have been.

The Polish Pavilion at the Biennale Arte 2024 in Venice, is an audiovisual exploration of the sound of war, titled ‘Repeat after Me II’. Created by Open Group a collective founded in August 2012 in Lviv by six Ukrainian artists. The work aims to portray war as a collective experience, whilst calling attention to individual experiences.

Pentagram’s Domenic Lippa reprises the role of creative director of the London Design festival. This year’s festival identity is based on the concept of ‘duality’ and features a combination of two different layered typefaces. The colour palette continues the tradition of LDF’s signature red, white and black which is synonymous of the city of London.
