Today, we celebrate a remarkable woman, our incredible CEO Marion Wagner, who marks 10 years with Breadline Africa. The entire team is deeply proud and grateful for your dedicated leadership over the last decade, a period during which we have exponentially grown the impact of our programmes on South African children and communities in need. We know that hundreds of thousands of children, teachers, and parents whose lives have been touched by Breadline Africa's early learning interventions share our sentiments. And of course, enough stray animals to fill the ark that you can’t resist rescuing on your way to project visits 🐾. Thank you for your visionary leadership, unwavering dedication to creating impact, and most of all, the kindness and humanity you bring to every challenge. Happy #workiversary, and happy #womensmonth !

What an amazing day! A heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported our Winter Food Parcel Drive. On this cold, rainy Mandela Day in Cape Town, we delivered essential food parcels to families in need in Capricorn, near Muizenberg. Recent storms have devastated homes, and these parcels will help families cook warm meals this winter. #MandelaDay

This Mandela Day, the children of Blackheath Educare Centre, just outside of Cape Town, received a brand-new preschool classroom filled with wonderful educational resources, thanks to the generous support of Pepkor Payments and Lending, Capfin SA, and Tenacity Financial Services. The children had an amazing day filled with laughter, crafts to decorate their new classroom, and of course, a delicious lunch and snacks. This Youth Day, we reflect on what brave students fought for nearly half a century ago—the right to equal education in their own home language. Today, less than 15% of SA schools have a functioning library, and even fewer have language-appropriate books for their learners. This week, thanks to the support of our donors, Breadline Africa handed over a beautiful new school library to the learners and teachers at Bonga Lower Primary in Gugulethu, filled with wonderful storybooks in the learners' home languages. We could not have achieved this without the support of our donors: James and @colinbloom_ from Libraries for Literacy, Bridge-Ed, and the fundraising efforts of @francoisvancoke, @rustenburggirls, , Ken Ritchie, and @carriealderley. What an incredibly fulfilling week! The 3,000 learners at six primary schools in rural KZN now have brand new flushing toilet facilities, replacing undignified and unhygienic pit toilets. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our corporate partners and foundations, which has made this impactful change possible. To learn how you can get involved in eradicating pit toilets in our schools, visit www.breadlineafrica.org/toiletcrisis and let's create a brighter future for our children. #Education #CommunitySupport #HealthySchools #BreadlineAfrica #PitToilets

Today is Election Day! Your vote shapes the future for our children. Let’s come together and create the change we wish to see. Every vote counts in building a brighter tomorrow. #ElectionDay #VoteForOurFuture #BreadlineAfrica #SouthAfrica

Celebrating 10 years of Menstrual Hygiene Day! 💪 At Breadline Africa, we are committed to creating a better environment for young women. By replacing pit toilets with flushing facilities in schools, we significantly improve conditions for girls, especially during menstruation. This essential upgrade reduces absenteeism and supports their education. Additionally, we provide reusable sanitary pads to all girls in these schools. Menstrual Hygiene Day aims to break taboos surrounding menstruation and raise awareness of the importance of good menstrual hygiene management worldwide. Together, we’re building a brighter, healthier future for our young women. 🌸 Visit www.breadlineafrica.org/toiletcrisis for more information. #MenstrualHygieneDay #BreadlineAfrica #GirlsEducation #SanitaryHealth #CommunityImpact #pittoilets #periodfriendlyworld

No more pit toilets for Fikeni and Sigidini Primary Schools, thanks to the support of @dbsabank. Visit link in our bio to support our pit toilet replacement campaign.

Exciting news! No more pit toilets for the 450 children at Fikeni and Sigidini Primary Schools in Mount Ayliff, Eastern Cape! Thanks to our partnership with Development Bank of Southern Africa, Breadline Africa has replaced these outdated and dangerous facilities with 40 new low-flush toilets. But our work doesn't stop here. With nearly 4,000 South African schools still using pit toilets, there's much more to be done. Visit www.breadlineafrica.org/toiletcrisis to learn how you can support this vital initiative and help ensure safe and dignified toilet facilities for all.

A brand new classroom for the Grade R children at Bakerville Primary in Gouda

There is nothing quite like seeing tears of joy on a teacher’s face as she welcomes her class into a brand-new classroom. Bakerville Primary, the only school in the small rural town of Gouda, had only two classrooms for its 111 Grade R learners. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, teacher Joh-Ralda Coetzee’s Grade R learners received a new classroom stocked with educational materials, storybooks, and furnishings, significantly improving the teacher-to-child ratio. We sincerely thank Breadline Africa’s individual donors, Blue Falcon Trading, Underwater Surveys, Marine & Refrigeration Engineering, and Daemon Solutions for making this project possible.
