South Africa!
If you are looking for a short excursion to a place that is definately "small town South Africa" then you will find it in Philadelphia. Approx. 40km from Cape Town on the N7. The General Dealer is a tiny shop with a very friendly owner. We would have loved to buy the milktart and some other tasty looking goodies but we didn't want it sitting in the car as we had a lunch date later.
The Gem shop is modern and tastefully set up. It houses a huge selection of crystals, incense, jewelry and much more. Well worth a browse. We didn't have time to visit the other shop in the old Post Office building.
The restaurant, Pepper Tree, appears to have stood the test of time.
It really is a very tiny village but well worth a few hours visit. Saturday morning is most probably best.
Cape Town has it all. Be as adventurous as you want to be or just relax and do the more leisurely pursuits. Never a dull moment in the Mother City come rain or shine!

Always such interesting observations from up high!
The Garden Route of South Africa offers many interesting small towns and various outdoor activities. Try something fun and silly like floating down the river at the Sedgefield Estuary, doing what the locals enjoy doing during summer. The river flows very fast so do stop before you reach the sea!
Or take a hike in the Goukamma Nature Reserve where you need to cross the river in a tiny boat. This "ferry" requires strong arms to pull yourself across.
Addo National Elephant Park is one of the must do's when visiting South Africa. The summer months are best as the animals can hide away in the very thick bush during winter. Take the Southern entrance to the park off the N2 at Cochester (past Port Elizabeth)
Wishing all the Two Oceans runners an amazing race! Enjoy our beautiful city while you master the ups and downs of this incredible race.
Are you a huge fan of penguins? We highly recommend hopping on and heading to Simon's Town, where you can hop off and see the endagered African Penguins. 🐧
Enjoy a scenic coastal drive to Simons Town via Miller's Point, with our next stop being the iconic Boulders Beach. Get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to come within meters of these adorable creatures in their natural habitat.
Nestled within the stunning Table Mountain Nature Reserve, Boulders Beach offers a pristine setting surrounded by impressive granite boulders, creating an unforgettable experience for both adults and kids alike. Don't miss out on this incredible adventure!
We love having such amazing guests from all over the world. Indeed a privilege to meet so many folk. Their stories are fascinating.
