We don’t get enough years with our beloved furbabies so it’s important to take videos and photos of your dog, imo you can’t have too much.

Our way to give back and show our gratitude to this wonderful community we are in is to help create those everlasting memories.

Fun facts about your dogs senses:

1. Dogs have a special smelling organ known as the vomeronasal organ.
2. Just like their vision and hearing, their sense of smell also decreases with age.
3. Dogs smell differently with each nostril. It is called ‘sniffing lateralisation’.
4. Dogs can smell when you are stressed out (so try and be as calm as possible when bringing your pup in for grooming as they can sense it 😉).
5. Dogs can sniff out disease.
6. Your dog can recognise your scent, How special!

Whether your dog is a smooth coat or has a thick long coat, you should have a grooming schedule.

Making a grooming routine will help give a healthier coat and better overall well being.

What should you include in your grooming routine?

Bathing is important but that will vary between dog. If your dog loves to get extra mucky or lives at the beach you may need to do this more than other dogs. If you unsure how often to bathe your dog the it is best to ask a professional dog groomer.

Nails. Keeping on top of the nails is vital as you don’t want the quick to grow too far forward. Keeping to a monthly schedule of clipping your dogs nails will prevent this.

Teeth. If you can brush your dogs teeth 3-4 times a week that is ideal. Doing this along with a healthy diet should keep your dogs teeth in tip top condition.

Ears. I would recommend checking and wiping the ears down weekly but If your dog is prone to ear problems I would check the ears daily.

Brushing. Whether your dog has lots of hair or no hair brushing is important. It will not only keep knots at bay or remove any dead hair it will also help stimulate the dogs coats and oils.

In your grooming routine I would always include a body check. Check the feet, gums, ears and eyes and run your hands over the whole body checking for any abnormalities.
Doing it regularly will allow you to know what is normal for your dog and what is not.

Lastly, a good routine will help desensitise your dog to grooming and it will help when going to the vet. Teaching your dog to tolerate being handled could help save your dogs life and prevent any injuries to the person trying to help your dog.

December is fast approaching and days are becoming limited with availability.

It is imperative to book your appointments in advance to avoid any disappointment (it’s also important to remember that appointment).

One day you will look back at all those silly photos and videos of your dog that you think you have too much of and realise you actually don’t have enough.

That is why we go the extra mile. Birthday photos will be taken and so will christmas, valentines and Easter. You will receive videos of your dogs playing, sleeping or doing something daft because those pointless videos matter.
