It stems from their imaginary view of Oak Valley as an appellation within the Elgin plateau and their search for new sites that produce exceptional wines. Tabula Rasa is single-minded, single vineyard and single clone. Grapes are sourced from a handful of vines within a block, focused exclusively on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their mission is to create wines from a blank canvas that represent the ultimate expression of their terroir.

Catch Zwide Serves Bass, the solo project of Kujenga’s bassist Zwide Ndwandwe, at Open Wine Thursday Jan 25. Accompanied by Roderick Mckay on keys and Damian Kamineth on drums, the performance will be a presentation of solo compositions from Ndwandwe, as well covers from his influences within the world of hip hop, soul and Black improvised music.

In the most accurate and faithful way possible, their unapologetically wooded white wine mirrors the terroir in which their Chardonnay vines are grown. In other words, it is an expression of the low vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld Shale derived soils and the heavily maritime-influenced climate.

Made using uncomplicated (not simple) winemaking techniques, this is an athletic, chiseled and precise wine. It embraces the very adult tastes of salinity, brininess and minerality, all of which are the hallmarks of the great and classic white wines of the world.

Bl33d is a local selector diving deep into the dub and house sounds, curating mood based sets to get the crowd grooving throughout. He has played at many hot spots in city such as Slowdown, Xylem and the Biscuit Mill, catering to different crowds and feels. He intends on kicking the night of festivities off with a classic house set.
