Children often have worries, ranging from imaginary monsters to real-world concerns like natural disasters. These fears can emerge suddenly or be triggered by everyday events as children become more aware of the world around them. As they grow, their understanding of who is in their world and their ability to anticipate negative events can heighten their anxieties.
Many of these fears are a natural part of a child's development and reflect their growing sense of independence. The process of becoming more independent can sometimes lead to feelings of fear, especially as they start to separate more from their caretakers. This fear often evolves into different forms as they age but generally stems from this same developmental process.
For young children, these fears can often be eased through connection with caring adults who provide a sense of safety and reassurance. As children mature, they develop the ability to confront their fears with courage, sometimes requiring the release of emotions like tears. Trusted adults play a crucial role in helping them navigate this process and build the resilience needed to face their worries.

Neurofeedback is one of the best interventions to improve slow processing speed.
It is a great skill to teach your kids to express when they feel like they need more of your attention. Until they can, you will have to do this for them. If they aren’t too upset you can try and offer a solution, “it seems like you really want me to spend time with you and you don’t like it when I have to make a phone call.” “I do need to make this call, how about we play one game and then I make the call?” This will only work if you can talk to them before their emotions have escalated too far.
