2. PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis): A medication taken within 72 hours after potential HIV exposure.
3. PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis): A daily pill that protects against HIV before exposure.
4. Circumcision: Reduces the risk of HIV transmission in men.
5. Health lifestyle
6. ART for partners living with HIV

Renowned pioneer of Zulu comedy, writer, and motivational speaker, Simphiwe Shembe (38), is breaking the silence on male circumcision in SA.
Partnering with Right to Care, Shembe is leading the 'ukuSoka with Simphiwe Shembe' campaign, advocating for medical male circumcision. Safe circumcisions performed by qualified health professionals reduce the risk of HIV and STI transmission, including HPV which causes cervical cancer, by as much as 60%.
A descendant of the prophet Isaiah Shembe, Simphiwe was circumcised at 29. He promotes open discussions on masculinity, women, and fatherhood, and creates safe spaces for men to talk about circumcision.
Shembe is also the author of the isiZulu ‘uLizwi Book of Quotes’ - part of an initiative by Shembe to preserve and promote African cultures while sharing messages of enlightenment, hope and inspiration.
Men today face multiple challenges. Responsibility and expectations are high, yet guidance and support are often lacking in our busy, fragmented society.
Prince Nhlanganiso Zulu, son of the late son of the late Zulu king Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, believes that men need to discuss the issues they are facing, work together, and support each other in addressing their challenges.
Isibaya Samadoda, loosely translating to “a circle of men”, is a collaboration between Prince Nhlanganiso Zulu, the KwaZulu Department of Health and Right to Care to advocate men’s physical and emotional health, both for their well-being and that of their families. It encourages HIV prevention through medical male circumcision and addresses comprehensive men’s health, social and gender norms, as well as cultural self-expression.
Right to Care regularly participates in Isibaya Samadoda men’s dialogues, like this recently held in eThekwini.
At this dialogue, John Blandford, the CDC South Africa Country Director, engaged with Prince Nhlanganiso, local traditional authorities and community members about promoting men’s health and medical male circumcision in the traditional sector of KZN.
Mangangeni Tribal Authority Chief, Amakhosi Shozi, hosted the event.
Our team is excited to attend the 25th International AIDS Conference (AIDS2024), where they will showcase some of our flagship work.
This conference is the world’s largest on HIV and AIDS and this year it will host an estimated 15,000 participants both in Munich, Germany and virtually from July 22-26. AIDS2024 offers a powerful platform for HIV knowledge sharing and learning.
Our team will be presenting our excellent work across Africa, including peer learning, research utilization, and costing.
