This picture explains why it is dangerous to think that you only need to see a dentist or have a filling done once you have tooth pain. Most people are not aware that you will not feel pain if a cavity (hole in your tooth) is still small/medium size. You will only feel pain once the bacteria has eaten it's way to the nerve in which case the tooth develops an abscess and you need to have the tooth removed or a root canal done- at this stage it is too late for a filling. Please do not skimp on your dental check-ups or ignore your dentist when we inform you of a cavity. The official recommendation for dental check-ups is once every 6 months.
