Why consider sulforaphane for oestrogen balancing?

Not produced in the body, Sulforaphane is a sulfur-containing phytochemical found in cruciferous vegetables.

It is recognised as increasing the activity of detoxification and the elimination of unwanted substances from the body.

It also increases the amount of glutathione in your cells, your most potent antioxidant produced in your body.

Estrogens, a group of sexual and reproductive hormones, are converted into metabolites which have different functions in your body.

When estrogen is out of balance, it can lead to symptoms of estrogen excess, commonly called estrogen dominance in women.

Signs of estrogen dominance include:

● Heavy periods
● Mood swings
● Tender breasts
● Weight gain

Including more sulforaphane-rich foods like kale, cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage in your diet can be beneficial in the removal of excess estrogen.

You may not get enough sulforaphane-rich foods in your diet daily, so supplementation may benefit.

Magnesium and melatonin address different things when it comes to sleep.⁠

Magnesium = helps relax and calm your body⁠
Melatonin = is a hormonal change to fall asleep⁠

Both are able to help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep for longer.⁠

However, magnesium is able to improve your overall sleep quality - here’s why:⁠

● Magnesium plays a role in muscle relaxation⁠
● It acts as an electrical conductor that contracts muscles and promotes a steady heartbeat⁠
● It is involved in the steps to take protein and convert it into the chemicals that help you feel sleepy⁠
● It plays a role in nerve function, including contributing to nervous system⁠ functioning
● It helps the body maintain levels of GABA (or gamma-aminobutyric acid), a neurotransmitter that is responsible for switching off wakefulness.⁠

Thyroid Tuesday!

Fasting and thyroid health.

You should be cautious with long fasts and undereating when you have thyroid disease. Not eating enough can be a stressor to the body and the thyroid can slow down in such an instance to conserve energy.

It is best to understand TIME RESTRICTED EATING (TRE) which is your permissive time to eat!

* Stick to a TRE window of 10-12 hours when you start.
* This means from 9am to 19pm you are allowed to eat as normal and then stop eating or drinking any food or beverage with caloric value after dinner.
* Focus on breaking your fast with a meal that is balanced in protein, fat and carbohydrate fibre.
* A balanced first meal will also help control the blood sugar for the rest of the day.
* The body is geared to have better metabolism earlier in the day (insulin sensitivity).

Here are four ways curcumin may benefit those with AD. It should be noted that curcumin bioavailability is low - combining it with black pepper can increase bioavailability, but therapeutic benefits may need higher levels found in a dietary supplement.

However, chronic inflammation is linked to certain diseases such as heart disease and arthritis.
