As Women's Month comes to an end, my heart aches for the injustices that women face every day. I witness daily the abuse of power that misogynistic men exert over their subordinate female staff, using bullying tactics to keep them in check. These men in power use their connections within the police force and other supposedly democratic organizations to subtly threaten, coerce, and silence women's voices. Where is the justice for women?

Women who are breadwinners, who are raising children, and who, at all costs, want to ensure they stay employed, quietly cower in defeat, hide in the shadows, and keep moving, day by day, working under the threat of job losses, intimidation, and fear.
I see the tears, I see the defeat in their eyes, and I feel their pain. Their faces and bodies may not bear the bruises of physical violence, but the scars of the abuse they face are a deep, dark abyss that seems endless.

How much more can women endure before men take a stand against such abuse? Men, you become complicit in this abuse when you remain silent. You become complicit when you use your status and power to back an abuser. How would you respond if this were your wife, mother, or daughter? Or has it become the norm to trample on the basic rights of women, especially when you can justify your abhorrent behavior with lies and untruths? Perhaps this is how you treat your wife, mother, or daughter. I'm stumped. I'm at a loss for words. I'm confused, to say the least. Surely every woman deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Surely every woman who juggles the demands of her many roles deserves a dignified and safe workspace. Some women are not safe in their own homes, and, to add insult to injury, they have to endure abuse in the workplace as well.

When will all men in positions of power stand up and fight for the rights of all women? When will all men and women in power use their influence to bring about meaningful change, not just token gestures during the month of August?

This cycle of abuse has to end. These injustices need to end.
We will not be silenced, we will not be subdued, we will not be threatened. We will stand for all women who face abuse daily. Our voices will be heard, and the cries of our hearts will not be silenced.

May her faithfulness and love for the church and worship remain an enduring testament to God's grace. May her legacy inspire us to cherish every moment and live faithfully in His love.
