Our Vision:
To be a leading contributor to the reversal of the burden of disease from HIV and TB and the reduction of poverty in South Africa.
The AIDS Foundation of South Africa is a development organisation that exists to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS and poverty through the implementation of health and community development projects in vulnerable communities.
The Ukusekela SPSF project under the human rights protection component supported Talitha Cumi, a special needs and Development Care Centre. Talitha was supported with the provision of assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, hearing devices, spectacles, and disposable nappies.
“As part of inclusion of people with disabilities program (PWD) Aids Foundation of South Africa (AFSA)through its partnership with Talent development institute (TDI) hosted a graduation ceremony for learners who successfully completed New venture creation ( SMME) NQF level 2 course. These learners were in a year long learnership that has been generously sponsored by Haleon. The learnership capacitated PWD with business skills that enables them to start their own business.
We are looking forward to seeing their businesses grow.
On the 4th June, launch of the KZN Human Rights Charter in Durban, led by the CSF Law and Human Rights Sector, was a momentous occasion. The AFSA Team and our sub-recipients were honoured to be part of this historic event.

At the 8th SA TB Conference in Durban, we unite with global and local partners to share innovative strategies, enhance research, and drive forward our mission to combat TB, HIV, and other infectious diseases.
Let's strengthen our resolve and take bold steps towards a TB-free world, ensuring no one is left behind. Together, we can achieve the ambitious goals set forth by the WHO's End TB Strategy and South Africa's National Development Plan 2030.'
Last month the AIDS Foundation was at Mngampondo area outside of Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal, to officially handover a home to the Zungu Family. This special project was funded through our Small Project Support Fund.
This project was facilitated through one of our partner organizations Kwanhliziyonye who identified this family and linked them to AFSA for further support.
A special thank you to all the partners and community structures who made this possible.

Global Fund Staff Review- Preparation meeting
The team at The Aids Foundation of South Africa (AFSA), had a consultative meeting with staff across all departments, in preparation for the upcoming quarterly review meeting.

Humans Rights Day
The Aids Foundation of South Africa's (AFSA) Gender Links Programme, conducted a Gender Based Violence Forum (GBVF) community awareness and dialigue.
This event was with Umgungundlovu Community members and stakeholders. The purpose of activity was to address issues of Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) which has become rife in the community.

On the 19-20 March 2024, The AIDS Foundation of South Africa as A Primary Recipient (PR) of the Global Fund grant was apart of the Consultative meetings that took place with the KZN Civil Society Forum (CSF) and Sub Recipients (SR's) of the Global Fund grant.
Some of the key objectives of the meeting were to:
1) For SR's to give reports on their work whilst implementing the Global Fund Programme as a Sub Recipient of The Aids Foundation of South Africa (AFSA)
2) The introduction of the newly elected KZN Civil Society Forum

Between the 4th and 6th of March 2024, the AIDS Foundation South Africa's Human Rights and Advocacy Programme conducted its quarterly review. This significant event celebrated the extraordinary and commendable efforts of our sub-recipients in advancing the human rights and advocacy agenda. It was a moment to acknowledge the unwavering commitment of our partners, with each one receiving accolades for their contributions to promoting human rights and advocacy within the nation.
There were also special award The most improved sub-recipient award since the start of NFM3 grant cycle was awarded to:

2) Ubuhlebethu Amathole

This was in honour of their consistent excellence and remarkable achievements thus far.

Discrimination
The Aids Foundation of South Africa's (AFSA) S*x worker programme team, conducted a site visit to Lifeline Northern Cape. Lifeline Northern Cape is a sub-recipient (SR) of the Global Fund grant, that implements the S*x worker programme in the Northern Cape.
The purpose of the meeting was for AFSA's S*x worker Programme Specialist and S*x worker programme co-ordinator to provide Technical assistance and capacity building to Lifeline Northern Cape.
This included the s*x worker programme review, reflecting on what has been achieved VS set targets as well as the compilation of an accelerated implementation plan.
Lifeline Northern Cape, was motivated to strengthening strategic collaborations starting with joint planning to the joint ex*****on of the plan. This was facilitated through three way meetings with Sisonke, The National Department of Health and Pretore Organisations.
PARTNERSHIPS- STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS
The Aids Foundation of South Africa is conducting a 3 day Leadership Development training aligned to the Inclusion of People with Disabilities programme (PWD).
The programme seeks to support leadership development for people with disabilities. During the training, participants undergo capacitation on self leadership, leading with others and leadership at a societal level, thus equipping them to be active role-players in our communities.

The Zululand District Stakeholders Consultative Forum Meeting was coordinated by AFSA under the Global Fund Programme. These meetings serves as a platform to monitor and evaluate the progress on programmes implemented by district partners supported by AFSA through Medium Sized and Small grants. All relevant stakeholders including district departments are part of these meetings to ensure the effective and strategic coordination of implementation at both a local and district levels.

The AFSA team hosted our long term partner, Bread for the World in reviewing programmatic progress of the Small Project Support Fund (SPSF) aimed at building capacity for local partners.
The visit was led by Ms Floretta Kayalett from BftW joined by Ms N Mkhize our "CEO" and the project team who provided an organisational update as well as the status of SPSF programme. This visit was concluded with a successful partner visit in Mpophomeni.
