Offices are at a high risk of fires due to the many elements that can be the cause of a fire.
Here are some fire safety tips for computers:
1. Ensure Proper Ventilation: Place your computer in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Ensure that vents and fans are not obstructed by walls, furniture, or clutter.
2. Use Surge Protectors: Plug your computer and peripherals into a surge protector to safeguard against electrical surges that can cause fires.
3. Avoid Overloading Power Outlets: Do not overload electrical outlets or power strips. Use separate outlets for high-wattage devices.
4. Regular Dust Cleaning: Dust buildup can cause overheating. Clean your computer and its components, especially the fans and vents, regularly.
5. Monitor Battery Health: If you use a laptop, keep an eye on the battery. Replace it if you notice swelling, leaking, or any unusual behaviour.
6. Turn Off When Not in Use: Shut down and unplug your computer when it’s not in use, especially overnight or when you’re away for extended periods.
7. Keep Liquids Away: Liquids can cause short circuits leading to fires. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your computer.
8. Use Certified Components: Only use power cords, adapters, and other components that are certified and compatible with your computer.
9. Place on Stable Surfaces: Ensure your computer is placed on a stable, flat surface to prevent it from tipping over and damaging internal components.
10. Install and Maintain Smoke Detectors: Install smoke detectors in areas where you use your computer. Regularly test and maintain them to ensure they are functioning correctly.

How often do you need to Service the Fire Alarms?
It is crucial to service your fire alarms every 6 months to stay compliant with regulations and building insurance requirements.
Why do you need to service the Fire Alarms?
Routine upkeep assists in preserving the sensitivity and precision of fire alarm sensors, thereby enhancing the system's capacity to identify smoke, heat, or flames during their initial phases. This heightened capability for early detection can potentially rescue lives and reduce property loss.
Eid Mubarak to all my wonderful friends and family! May this special day bring you joy, peace, and countless blessings. Wishing you a truly memorable celebration filled with love and laughter.🌙✨
Do you know what to do when there is a fire?
Here are 6 things that you should do when there is a fire:
1. Don't Panic and make a call to 10177 and report the fire so that they can dispatch the necessary emergency services.
2. Alert anyone else in the building (by pulling the fire alarm if there is one) and get them out of the building.
3. If it is possible, try to close the doors and windows in the room where the fire has started. This will limit any sort of fuel, heat and oxygen from feeding the fire.
4. If there is a fire extinguisher close by and you know how to use it, try and put out the fire. However, don't proceed to do this if it will hurt yourself or others.
5. To escape smoke you should stay low with your face down, and crawl on your hands and knees. It is important to stay away from the centre of the room and keep close to the wall.
6. You should always use the stairs when trying to get out of a building and make your way down to the ground floor towards the assembly area. If there is smoke in the stairwell, do not go down, rather stay put.
