Tuesday 11 June IMA Baytul Nur hosted Sister Hanan Qannam, a pharmacist & humantarian from Gaza who arrived in Durban a week ago with her husband & 3 kids. Hanan mesmerised us with her beautiful charm & her unique way of relating her painful experience of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. She also described her journey from Khan Yunis to Rafah & evacuation to Egypt & then to South Africa. It was heartwrenching to listen to her life changing decisions which she had taken to bring her family to safety. We laughed & cried with her as she shared her all encompassing challenges of a woman, mother, wife, daughter, sister & a humanitarian aid worker. The sisters of Durban welcomed her with hugs and tears. A well spent morning which ended with interactive discussion over a cup of coffee with Hanan. We wish Sister Hanan & her family success in their future endeavors in South Africa. We make dua that Palestine will be free.We express our heartfelt gratitude to our guests, Aisha Seyam & Sarah Khan & all those who attended.
